Patent number: 12052295Abstract: A method performed by an Application Server (AS) node PCRM-AS for assisting a UE in restoring an association between an Internet protocol Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, node, and the UE via one or more first intermediate proxy nodes in a communications network is provided. When the AS node receives from the UE, a first registration relating to the association, monitor said association. The first registration registers the UE to an IMS network. The first registration comprises an identity identifying the UE and a Push Notification Service (PNS) node serving the UE. When any of the intermediate proxy nodes in the monitored association becomes unavailable, the AS node sends an instruction to the identified PNS node. The instruction instructs the PNS node to send a notification to the identified UE. The notification triggers the UE to restore the association between the IMS node and the UE via one or more available second intermediate proxy nodes.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2020Date of Patent: July 30, 2024Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Jan Lidin, Håkan Österlund

Publication number: 20160269496Abstract: A method and an application server for executing a service-related operation for a device user in communication with an opposite communication entity, wherein the device user has a subscription that is valid for a set of devices. The application server obtains a location of a primary device assigned to indicate the device user's location, and also a location of each of at least one secondary device of the set of devices. The service-related operation is then executed with restriction to the primary device and to those of the secondary devices, if any, that are located within a predetermined proximity range to the primary device, i.e. presumably within reach for the user. Unnecessary signaling and alerting can thereby be avoided since the service-related operation will not be executed for any secondary device that is beyond reach for the user and thus cannot be used for communication.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 25, 2013Publication date: September 15, 2016Applicant: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Jan LIDIN, Ester GONZALEZ DE LANGARICA, Mats STILLE

Patent number: 9106671Abstract: Presented are methods and apparatus for optimizing access to service capabilities information for clients associated with user in a communication system. Communications requesting service capabilities information is directed through one or more capabilities application servers for inspection before forwarding the requests to their destination user's client device. If the capabilities application server has previously stored the information then the reply is generated from information stored on the capabilities application server and no request is forwarded to the user's client device, optimizing the process by reducing network communications.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2012Date of Patent: August 11, 2015Assignee: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Mikael Klein, Christer Boberg, Jan Lidin, Anders Lindgren

Patent number: 9065702Abstract: A method, Call Agent (CA), and circuit-switched terminal for setting up a multimedia session from the circuit-switched terminal toward a packet-switched terminal in a telecommunication network. An Instant Messaging (IM) server receives an IM message from the circuit-switched terminal and forwards the contents of the IM message to the CA. The CA generates or retrieves a unique call token that identifies the terminals, and sends the call token to the IM server, which forwards the token to the circuit-switched terminal. In response, the circuit-switched terminal initiates setup of a circuit-switched call to an identified Media Gateway Controller (MGC). The MGC then sets up a packet-switched session with the packet-switched terminal to complete the setup of the multimedia session.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2012Date of Patent: June 23, 2015Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Jan Lidin, Fredrik Pejmo, Jan Hultkrantz

Patent number: 8737968Abstract: A service node in a telecommunication network is arranged to receive a Multi-Media video call setup for a terminal to be called. The called terminal is called by the service node according to either a video or a voice call setup, depending on a current allowed answer mode of the called terminal. Responding to the call setup will, depending on either answering or rejecting the call setup by the called terminal, and depending whether the call setup is for a voice or a video call, be handled by the service node according to a predetermined method. When a call setup is answered by the called terminal, the service node further supports a method of toggling between a video call and a voice call at the called terminal.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2009Date of Patent: May 27, 2014Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Jan C. Publication number: 20130260733Abstract: A method and capability manager for supporting provision of capabilities of a first user terminal to a second user terminal. Filtering rules have been pre-configured in the capability manager for the first user terminal to control exposure of capabilities. When the capability manager receives a capability message issued by the first user terminal, filtering rules are applied on the capabilities in the capability message, to modify the capability message by omitting at least one of the capabilities based on the filtering rules. The modified capability message is then forwarded towards the second user terminal. Thereby, options for communication will be indicated at the second terminal in accordance with the capabilities in the modified capability message, i.e. in a way that can be controlled by the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 1, 2013Publication date: October 3, 2013Applicant: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Jan LIDIN, Jan GJÄRDMAN, Mikael KLEIN

Publication number: 20100146063Abstract: A first terminal residing telecommunication network is arranged for initializing media sessions of at least two media types such as voice and messaging to a second terminal. The first terminal is known by a message server as a message client. The first terminal submits a request for a media session set up by means of a message protocol for a media session of a different media type. The request is sent to the message server which forwards the message to a network node. The network node is also known message server as well as to the terminal as a message client. After receiving the media session set up request the network node either sets up the requested media session to both the terminals and bridges the connections for a media session or instructs the first terminal to setup the media session.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 3, 2007Publication date: June 10, 2010Inventors: Jan Lidin, Fredrik Pejmo, Jan Christian Gustaf Hultkrantz
