  • Patent number: 5059220
Abstract: Highly selective membranes for the separation of mixtures He/N.sub.2 and O.sub.2 /N.sub.2, which have suitable mechanical properties and high permeability are dislcosed. They consist of a polymeric porous base from poly-2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenyleneoxide and a polymeric selective layer formed from polyamidoimide of the general formula I, where R= ##STR1## and n=140-220 ##STR2## or from an interpolymeric equimolar complex of PAI-1 with polyvinylpyrrolidone, or from an aromatic polyimide of the general formula II, where X is --O-- or ##STR3## and n=150-230 ##STR4## or of the general formula III, where n=150-240 ##STR5## or from polymeric imides of the general formula IV, where R=H or CH.sub.3 ##STR6## or also from their copolymers with styrene, methyl methacrylate, methyl acrylate, and dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate. A method for the preparation of composite polymeric membranes consists of saturation of the porous base from poly-2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenyleneoxide with an organic solvent inert to it, e.g. with C.sub.

  • Patent number: 4087600
Abstract: The invention relates to tetrachloroethyl esters of unsaturated organic acids of the general formula I ##STR1## where X stands for a substituent selected from the group consisting of COOH, CCOCH.sub.3, COOC.sub.2 H.sub.5, ##STR2## It further relates to their polymers and mixed polymers of the above monomers, namely with vinyl and diene compounds, and to methods for preparation both monomers and these polymers. To prepare the compounds of the general formula I, acyl chloride of the general formula II ##STR3## where Y stands for a substituent selected from the group consisting of COOH, COOCH.sub.3, COOC.sub.2 H.sub.5, ##STR4## AND ##STR5## IS TREATED WITH CHLORAL, ADVANTAGEOUSLY IN THE PRESENCE OF A MINERAL ACID OR SALT, FOR EXAMPLE WITH ADDITION OF SULFURIC ACID AND FERRIC CHLORIDE, RESPECTIVELY.

  • Patent number: 4042644
Abstract: Process for producing polymers comprising connecting polymeric molecules which contain chemically bound tertiary amino groups in the chain by oxidizing the macromolecules to be connected with air or an oxidizing agent such as compounds containing a peroxidic bond, for example, inorganic and organic peroxides, or organic anhydrides. It is possible to connect chains of identical or different types and in this way increase the molecular weight, produce block copolymers, cure films of varnishes and perform vulcanization and the like at ambient temperature.

  • Patent number: 3974205
Abstract: The invention relates to tetrachloroethyl esters of unsaturated organic acids of the general formula I ##EQU1## WHERE X stands for a substituent selected from the group consisting of COOH, COOCH.sub.3, COOC.sub.2 H.sub.5, ##EQU2## It further relates to their polymers and mixed polymers of the above monomers, namely with vinyl and diene compounds, and to methods for preparation both monomers and these polymers. To prepare the compounds of the general formula I, acyl chloride of the general formula II ##EQU3## where Y stands for a substituent selected from the group consisting of COOH, COOCH.sub.3, COOC.sub.2 H.sub.5, ##EQU4## is treated with chloral, advantageously in the presence of a mineral acid or salt, for example with addition of sulfuric acid and ferric chloride, respectively.
