Patent number: 11691866Abstract: A method of aseptically distributing fluid including fluidly connecting a primary vessel to a fluid distribution system via a feedline of the supply vessel to form a closed system, priming the feedline to purge trapped gases and fluid from the feedline via a purge valve, simultaneously distributing fluid from the primary vessel to a plurality of secondary vessels, sensing a complete fill of the plurality of secondary vessels with the control system, and stopping the distribution of fluid when the complete fill is sensed by the control system.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2021Date of Patent: July 4, 2023Assignee: Sartorius Stedim North America Inc.Inventors: Michael A. Zumbrum, Kevin M. Perdue, William Kimmick, Jan Neuhaus

Publication number: 20230202827Abstract: A fluid distribution system includes an input tube, a plurality of vessels, and a distribution hub. The input tube is configured to extend from a supply vessel. Each vessel of the plurality of vessels includes an inflow conduit. The distribution hub includes a single inlet and a plurality of outlets. The single inlet is defined in a bottom of the distribution hub and is in fluid communication with the input tube such that the distribution hub is configured to receive fluid from the input tube through the single inlet. Each outlet of the plurality of outlets is in fluid communication with the single inlet and in fluid communication with a respective inflow conduit such that the distribution hub is configured to provide an equal portion of the fluid received through the single inlet to each of the inflow conduits.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 8, 2023Publication date: June 29, 2023Applicant: Sartorius Stedim North America Inc.Inventors: Michael A. Zumbrum, Kevin M. Perdue, William Kimmick, Jan Neuhaus

Patent number: 11623856Abstract: A method of aseptically distributing fluid to a plurality of vessels includes securing the plurality of vessels relative to a hub and flowing fluid through an input tube into a plenum of the hub such that a substantially equal amount of fluid flows from the plenum into each of the vessels simultaneously. The vessels are positioned in the same plane relative to one another with each vessel having an inflow conduit extending from the hub to the vessel such that an arc segment is formed between the hub and the vessel.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2020Date of Patent: April 11, 2023Inventors: Michael A. Zumbrum, Kevin M. Perdue, William Kimmick, Jan Neuhaus

Patent number: 11506310Abstract: A fluid transfer assembly is described that includes a fitting comprising a lumen having an opening, and at least one barb, the at least one barb extending circumferentially around the lumen proximate to the opening. The assembly also includes a flexible conduit, a deformable sleeve, and an elastomeric liner disposed between the sleeve and the conduit. The fitting extends at least partially into the conduit such that the conduit extends over the at least one barb. The elastomeric liner applies substantially 360 degree radial pressure to the conduit such that the conduit is sealingly compressed around the at least one barb of the fitting. The assembly is fluid tight up to a burst pressure of the conduit.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2018Date of Patent: November 22, 2022Assignee: Sartorius Stedim North America Inc.Inventors: Michael A. Zumbrum, Kevin Perdue, Marc Sanchez, Jan Neuhaus

Publication number: 20220266360Abstract: Method for the forming of a fluid-tight separating closure of a conduit (1) involving the following steps: providing of a conduit (1) with a sleeve (2), positioning of the conduit (1) with the sleeve (2) between a die (3) and a stamp (4), compressing of the sleeve (2) by a relative movement between the die (3) and the stamp (4) in order to form a closure (5); severing of the closure (5) in a compressed region (6) by a severing tool (7) such that a contact line (8) between the severing tool (7) and the sleeve (2) during severing is shorter than an obtained severing edge (9) of the sleeve (2).Type: ApplicationFiled: July 16, 2020Publication date: August 25, 2022Applicant: Sartorius Stedim North America Inc.Inventors: Dietmar Weger, Lars Bottcher, Jan Neuhaus, Michael Zumbrum

Patent number: 11319201Abstract: A fluid distribution system is configured to distribute fluid from a first vessel to second vessels includes a hub assembly and a frame assembly. The hub assembly has an input cap, a distribution cap, a first clamp, and a second clamp. The input cap defines an inlet and the distribution cap is sealingly secured to the input cap with a plenum being defined between the input and distribution caps. The distribution cap includes conduit connectors that each defines an outlet in fluid communication with the plenum. The first clamp is disposed over the distribution cap and is engaged with the input cap to secure the input cap to the distribution cap and the second clamp is disposed over the input cap and engaged with the distribution cap to secure the distribution cap to the input cap. The frame assembly supports the hub assembly and is configured to secure each of the secondary vessels at a predetermined distance relative to the hub assembly.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2019Date of Patent: May 3, 2022Assignee: Sartorius Stedim North America Inc.Inventors: Michael A.
