  • Patent number: 7046653
Abstract: The invention is a diversity radio reception system and process of operation. At least two diversity radio signals are received each containing a sequence of corresponding data units which are each subject to an intermittent error from one to Y data units in duration wherein Y is an integer equal to at least one. Corresponding data units of the sequence of data units of the at least two diversity radio signals are compared to identify at least one corresponding data unit in the at least two diversity radio signals which differs. When no difference in at least one corresponding data unit is identified, one of the at least two sequences of corresponding data units are outputted. When at least one difference in at least one data unit of the sequence of corresponding data units is identified, each data unit within the at least one difference of the sequence of corresponding data units is processed to output each data unit within each difference having a higher probability of not containing an error.

  • Patent number: 4086543
Abstract: The basic module of a microwave Travelling-Wave Hybrid Junction amplifier (TWHJ) consists of a hybrid junction (0.degree., 180.degree. or 90.degree. hybrid) combined with an appropriate phase-shifting element (.pi./2 element is needed for 0.degree. and 180.degree. hybrids and no element is needed for a 90.degree. hybrid) and three negative conductance circuits terminating three ports of the modified hybrid while the fourth port serves as an input-output port. Because of proper stabilization and matching, the negative conductance circuits are not oscillating but are acting as reflection type amplifiers. Any RF energy applied to the input port of the hybrid is multiply reflected while travelling through the hybrid giving rise to amplified RF energy emerging from the input port of the hybrid junction.

  • Patent number: 4048583
Abstract: A locked hybrid junction power combiner comprises in its simplest version a single hybrid junction (0.degree., 180.degree. and 90.degree.) and an appropriate phase shifting element combining three one port oscillators (one master oscillator strongly locking the other oscillators). The combiner can be extended to combine any odd number of oscillators. Combining efficiency approaching 100% and locking figure of merit exceeding that of the master oscillator have been experimentally observed. Isolating the master oscillator from the hybrid by a circulator, the LHJ combiner can generate high microwave powers with spectral purity of the master oscillator; e.g. Impatt diode power capabilities may be combined with Gunn diode spectral purity. The combiner with an ordinary E-H waveguide hybrid junction can be employed to generate ultra-high microwave powers by combining high power tube sources.
