  • Publication number: 20040218774
Abstract: A loudspeaker system comprising a closed cabinet containing a tuned port, an electromechanical driver, an acoustic radial transmission line (VARTL), a reactive alternate density transmission medium (ADTM) load and a radial right angle wave guide (RRAWG). The VARTL is disposed around and in front of the cone of the driver so as to isolate the driver from reflected signals it produces, while simultaneously allowing the driver to remain inert to the reflected signals, acoustic summation or stimulus. The ADTM slows the speed of the wave, thereby causing delay and intentional attenuation of the initial waveform while, by way of radial expansion, allows the proper exit velocity. This system allows the cone to drive the port air mass and the VARTL air mass with essentially equal pressure on each cycle throughout the frequency range of the VARTL and substantially reduces mechanical vibrations in the cabinet by effecting balanced pressures.

  • Patent number: 6704425
Abstract: A bass reflex loudspeaker system capable of optimized sub-bass (<100 Hz) response. The loudspeaker system incorporates a closed cabinet, an electromechanical driver, a virtual acoustic radial transmission line (VARTL), a reactive alternate density transmission medium (ADTM) load and a radial right angle wave guide (RRAWG). The VARTL is disposed around and in front of the cone of the driver so as to allow the driver to maintain loading to very low frequencies, while simultaneously isolating the driver from reflected signals, acoustic summation or stimulus. The ADTM slows the speed of the wave, thereby causing delay and intentional attenuation of the initial waveform while, by way of radial expansion, allows the proper exit velocity. The RRAWG acts as a guide and is disposed within the VARTL to introduce the signal into the throat of the VARTL, thereby allowing the cone to drive the port air mass and the VARTL air mass with essentially equal pressure on each cycle throughout the frequency range of the VARTL.

  • Patent number: 4799264
Abstract: A speaker system comprises a housing and at least one speaker mounted in said housing. An acoustical filter for intercepting and reradiating sound waves is mounted in front of the cone of the speaker. The acoustical filter includes a frame having a central aperture and at least one membrane mounted to the frame covering the aperture and having a resonant frequency of vibration. A plurality of slots are formed in the frame adjacent the aperture. A dispersion grid for increasing the spacial angular dispersion of sound waves generated by the speaker is mounted in front of the frame.

  • Patent number: 4228402
Abstract: A remote control system for an audio system component. An intermediate circuit is connected into the audio system interposed between the component and system amplifier through standard input/output jacks. The intermediate circuits include a first controllable attenuator for volume control, and frequency selective controllable attenuators to provide for independent bass and treble control. Control of the attenuators are effected from a remotely located control panel. Provisions for coupling the control panel and intermediate circuit through existing standard house electrical wiring, and provisions for remote on/off control are also described.
