  • Patent number: 9242877
Abstract: A process is provided for removing metal salt co-constituents from an iron-containing solution comprising: (a) decreasing the free acidity of the solution to produce a slurry; (b) optionally heating the solution or the slurry to a temperature at least 30° C.; (c) optionally aging the slurry; (d) adding one or more cationic polyelectrolyte flocculants to the slurry; and (e) separating a solid-containing portion from a liquid portion of the slurry.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 6, 2012
Date of Patent: January 26, 2016
    Assignee: Kemira Oyj
Inventors: Sheila St. Amour, Jan Pavlicek

  • Patent number: 8071067
Abstract: Processes for forming ferric chloride solutions that are stable at relatively low temperatures and suitable for transportation without precipitation are provided. The stable ferric chloride solutions have an iron content of about 16 to about 23 weight percent and a hydrochloric acid content of about 11 to about 17 weight percent, wherein the ferric chloride solution is a stable solution and/or reversibly freezes at ?10° C. Also disclosed are processes for reconstituting the stable ferric chlorides solutions to provide a final iron content of 10 to 14 weight percent and lower the concentration of hydrochloric acid contained therein.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 26, 2009
Date of Patent: December 6, 2011
    Assignee: Kemira Water Solutions, Inc.

  • Patent number: 5823162
Abstract: The operation of a distribution system of a four-stroke internal combustion engine, which has suction and exhaustion mechanisms, is based on the principle that the exhaustion mechanism, which opens during an expansion stroke and stays opened during the exhaustion stroke, stays opened also through the whole period of the combustion stroke and it closes only during the period of compression after opening of the suction mechanism.
