  • Publication number: 20230279633
Abstract: A foundation (1) for a structure (7) comprising a body (8) having a lateral surface (11) and a distal end (10) for insertion into a soil (2). At least a region of the lateral surface (11) forms a first electrode. One or more second electrodes (9) are provided on the body (8) and are flush with or sit proud of the lateral surface (11). Each second electrode (9) extends transversely around the lateral surface (11) and is electrically insulated therefrom by an insulating strip (12) provided between the respective second electrode and the lateral surface. During installation, a voltage may be applied across the electrodes for inducing an electroosmosis effect to reduce installation resistance.

  • Publication number: 20230175225
Abstract: A method of installing a foundation (1) for a structure. The foundation body (2) has a toe (7) at its distal end which defines an aperture into an internal cavity (12) defined by an inner wall (8). Fluid is jetted from a plurality of nozzles (9) to direct fluid distally into the soil (5) ahead of the toe (7) during installation. A pump arrangement (13) controlled by a controller (16) is used to vary the quantity of fluid at a proximal end to thereby vary the fluid suspension pressure adjacent the toe (7) in a fluid communication channel (11) extending between the proximal end and the toe (7). The controller varies the fluid suspension pressure as the toe (7) inserts deeper into the soil (5) based on a target fluid suspension pressure as a function of toe depth.

  • Patent number: 7840438
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards systems and methods for determining the performance of a plurality of versions of a given advertisement. The method of the present invention comprises retrieving a first version of an advertisement and associated click through data, and retrieving a second version of the advertisement and associated click through data. A clickability score is calculated for the first version of the advertisement using the click through data associated with the first version, and a clickability score is calculated for the second version of the advertisement using the click through data associated with the second version. A difference in clickability scores is determined between the first and second advertisement. The clickability score associated with the first version of the advertisement is modified based upon the difference in clickability scores.

  • Patent number: 7711732
Abstract: Techniques for automatically focusing searches conducted by a search engine are provided. According to one aspect, revised query terms are automatically generated based on text in links that are in incoming (and/or outgoing) link lists associated with documents that are referenced in initial search results generated based on initial query terms. For example, some of the phrases that appear in incoming (and/or outgoing) links associated with a result document may be selected. The selected phrases may be added to the initial query terms to generate revised query terms. These revised query terms may be submitted automatically to the search engine in order to produce a more focused list of revised search results. This process may be performed repeatedly, each iteration revising query terms generated by the previous iteration, until specified criteria are satisfied, at which point the final revised search results may be presented to a user.

  • Patent number: 7631008
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards systems and methods for predicting a frequency with which an advertisement displayed in response to a query will be selected. The method of the present invention comprises receiving analytics data associated with a display of one or more advertisements in response to one or more queries. One or more features associated with the one or more advertisements displayed in response to the one or more queries are identified. One or more functions are generated for predicting a frequency with which a given advertisement displayed in response to a query will be selected using the analytics data and features associated with the one or more advertisements displayed in response to the one or more queries.

  • Patent number: 7533092
Abstract: A computer implemented method of ranking search hits in a search result set. The computer-implemented method includes receiving a query from a user and generating a list of hits related to the query, where each of the hits has a relevance to the query, where the hits have one or more boosting linked documents pointing to the hits, and where the boosting linked documents affect the relevance of the hits to the query. The method associates a metric to each of at least a subset of the hits, the metric being representative of the number of boosting linked documents that point to each of at least a subset of the hits and which artificially inflate the relevance of the hits. The method then compares the metric, which is representative of the size of a spam farm pointing to the hit, with a threshold value, processes the list of hits to form a modified list based in part on the comparison, and transmits the modified list to the user.

  • Publication number: 20080306819
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards systems and methods for ranking and providing advertisements in a position auction. The method of the present invention comprises receiving a search query and selecting at least one keyword based upon the search query. A list containing at least one keyword based upon the search query is returned and a list comprising at least one bid corresponding to the returned list of keywords is retrieved. A priority score corresponding to each bid is computed and used to rank the list of bids. Advertisements are then provided corresponding to a plurality of the highest ranking bids.

  • Publication number: 20080027798
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for selecting advertisements to display to a user requesting a primary webpage is provided. Keywords related to the primary webpage are determined using internal information of the primary webpage and/or external information provided in neighboring webpages. The external information may include anchor text metadata of hyperlinks on neighboring webpages that link to the primary webpage or include the number of such hyperlinks having a same particular anchor text. Other internal and/or external information may be used to determine a list of keywords related to the primary webpage. One or more of keywords on the list are selected to represent the primary webpage according to one or more objectives. One or more advertisements are selected to be served to the user using the selected keywords. Machine learning techniques may be used to develop a model that automatedly determines keywords representing a webpage.
