  • Publication number: 20140369519
Abstract: An apparatus for processing an audio signal for reproduction by a sound transducer includes an equalization parameter determinator for determining a set of equalization parameters and an equalizer configured to equalize an input audio signal, to obtain an equalized audio signal. Different concepts for the determination of the set of equalization parameters include an image recognition, an evaluation of an identification signal which is provided by the sound transducer via an audio connection, and a measurement of the impedance of the sound transducer over frequency. Also, an upload functionality and a download functionality are provided.

  • Patent number: 8553895
Abstract: A device for generating an encoded stereo signal from a multi-channel representation includes a multi-channel decoder generating three of more multi-channels from at least one basic channel and parametric information. The three or more multi-channels are subjected to headphone signal processing to generate an uncoded first stereo channel and an uncoded second stereo channel which are then supplied to a stereo encoder to generate an encoded stereo file on the output side. The encoded stereo file may be supplied to any suitable player in the form of a CD player or a hardware player such that a user of the player does not only get a normal stereo impression but a multi-channel impression.

  • Publication number: 20120314876
Abstract: An apparatus for extracting a direct and/or ambience signal from a downmix signal and spatial parametric information, the downmix signal and the spatial parametric information representing a multi-channel audio signal having more channels than the downmix signal, wherein the spatial parametric information has inter-channel relations of the multi-channel audio signal, is described. The apparatus has a direct/ambience estimator and a direct/ambience extractor. The direct/ambience estimator is configured for estimating a level information of a direct portion and/or an ambient portion of the multi-channel audio signal based on the spatial parametric information. The direct/ambience extractor is configured for extracting a direct signal portion and/or an ambient signal portion from the downmix signal based on the estimated level information of the direct portion or the ambient portion.

  • Patent number: 8325929
Abstract: Binaural rendering a multi-channel audio signal into a binaural output signal is described. The multi-channel audio signal has a stereo downmix signal into which a plurality of audio signals are downmixed, and side information having a downmix information, as well as object level information of the plurality of audio signals and inter-object cross correlation information. Based on a first rendering prescription, a preliminary binaural signal is computed from the first and second channels of the stereo downmix signal. A decorrelated signal is generated as an perceptual equivalent to a mono downmix of the first and second channels of the stereo downmix signal being, however, decorrelated to the mono downmix. Depending on a second rendering prescription, a corrective binaural signal is computed from the decorrelated signal and the preliminary binaural signal is mixed with the corrective binaural signal to obtain the binaural output signal.

  • Patent number: 8145499
Abstract: In a case of transient audio input signals, in a multi-channel audio reconstruction, uncorrelated output signals are generated from an audio input signal in that the audio input signal is mixed with a representation of the audio input signal delayed by a delay time such that, in a first time interval, a first output signal corresponds to the audio input signal, and a second output signal corresponds to the delayed representation of the audio input signal, wherein, in a second time interval, the first output signal corresponds to the delayed representation of the audio input signal, and the second output signal corresponds to the audio input signal.

  • Patent number: 8064624
Abstract: A stereo signal with enhanced perceptual quality using a mid-signal and a side-signal, can be generated, when a enhanced side signal is created prior to the upmix of the stereo signal. A decorrelated representation of at least a portion of the sum signal and/or a decorrelated representation of at least a portion of the side-signal is generated. The enhanced side-signal is generated combining a representation of the side-signal with the decorrelated representation of the portion of the mid signal, with the decorrelated representation of the side-signal and the decorrelated representation of the portion of the mid-signal or with the portion of the mid-signal and the decorrelated representation of the portion of the side-signal. The stereo signal with enhanced perceptual quality is created using a representation of the mid-signal and the enhanced side-signal.
