  • Patent number: 11091239
Abstract: A system for monitoring a remote underwater location using an unmanned underwater vessel (5). The system includes an unmanned surface vessel (8), a communication unit (7) for submerged location and connected to the unmanned surface vessel (8) and in which the unmanned surface vessel has a position tracking control system for controlling the position of that vessel on a body of water and relative to the unmanned underwater vehicle (5). The communication unit (7) has a first wireless communication arrangement for communication with the unmanned underwater vehicle, a second wired communication arrangement (10) for communication with the unmanned surface vessel and the unmanned surface vessel has a third communication arrangement for communication with an operator or observer (1) remote from the unmanned surface vessel and the unmanned underwater vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6297453
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cable protector for underwater craft remote-controlled by cable. The function of the cable protector is to protect the operating cable of the underwater craft against wearing and catching on a surface mother-ship from which the craft is operated. The cable protector guides the operating cable out to such a great depth that it runs clear of the ship. At the same time, the cable protector allows the cable to run out in any chosen direction, while limiting a deflection angle at which the operating cable leaves the cable protector. The cable protector includes telescopically acting helical springs and a link system at a lower portion which prevents the operating cable from bending too tightly while it ensures that the cable runs out in the direction of the underwater craft.

  • Patent number: 5688012
Abstract: A device in a lifting crane for releasing and recovering a load provided with a recovery cable comprises a lifting yoke having an aperture extending in a lifting direction of the lifting yoke, the recovery cable being slidable through the aperture; two locking members pivotally journalled in the lifting yoke about tangential axes of rotation, the locking members jointly capable of recovering and supporting a load while in a first position and, upon pivoting to a second position, releasing a supported load; and two regulating levers, one for each locking member, each regulating lever having a first end journalled on the axes of rotation of a respective locking member and a second end attached to a single biasing member, such as a spring interconnecting the pair of regulating levers, the pair of regulating levers, in combination with the spring, having an open position which forces the locking members to the second position for releasing a load and a closed position which, in combination with the spring, forces
