  • Publication number: 20190072854
Abstract: A method for processing a lithographic printing plate material includes treating the plate material with an alkaline development solution, and treating the plate material with an aqueous liquid whereby the aqueous liquid is sprayed to both the front side and the backside of the plate material.
    Type: Application

    Publication date: March 7, 2019
Inventors: Philippe MORIAME, Iris BOGUNOVIC, Jan SINNESAEL
  • Patent number: 9354520
Abstract: A method of making a lithographic printing plate includes the steps of a) image-wise exposing a lithographic printing plate precursor, including a support including a hydrophilic surface or a hydrophilic layer and, thereon, a light or heat sensitive coating including a photopolymerizable composition, b) processing the precursor, consecutively, with a first solution and a second solution, to remove the coating from the support in the non-printing areas, wherein the first and second solutions are provided by a cascade system, the second solution overflows into the first solution and the first solution overflows into a container to be treated as waste, and the second solution is regenerated by adding a replenishing solution or a mixture of replenishing solutions at a rate of at least 5 ml/m2 of treated precursor and at most 100 ml/m2 of treated precursor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 7, 2014
Date of Patent: May 31, 2016
    Assignee: AGFA GRAPHICS NV
Inventors: Peter Hendrikx, Jan Sinnesael, Roberto Carbonini, Sam Verbrugghe
  • Publication number: 20150360459
Abstract: An apparatus and method for processing a lithographic printing plate include a plate transport for conveying the plate through the apparatus, a plate detector for locating the plate in the apparatus and for determining a plate width, one or more nozzles for depositing developer on the plate, wherein the one or more nozzles are arranged to shuttle over the plate or are arranged as a fixed array that spans at least the width of the plate. The plate detector is coupled to the one or more nozzles to selectively actuate the one or more nozzles that are positioned to deposit developer across the plate area, which results in a significant reduction of developer consumption. In preferred embodiments, the nozzles apply developer in accordance with the image on the plate, which enables an even lower consumption of developer.

  • Patent number: 9156529
Abstract: A method of making a lithographic printing plate including the steps of a) image-wise exposing a lithographic printing plate precursor including a light or heat sensitive coating on a support having a hydrophilic surface or which is provided with a hydrophilic layer, and b) processing the precursor consecutively with a first solution and a second solution thereby removing the coating from the support in the non-printing areas. The first and second solutions are provided by a cascade system such that the second solution overflows into the first solution and the first solution overflows into a container to be further treated as waste, and the second solution is regenerated by adding a replenishing solution or a mixture of replenishing solutions at a rate of at least 5 ml/m2 of treated precursor and at most 30 ml/m2 of treated precursor.
