  • Publication number: 20090230579
Abstract: A method of fabricating a polarizer is provided. The method includes following steps. First, a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film is provided. A dyeing process is then performed on the PVA film by using an ultraviolet (UV) light as a dyeing assistant. Next, an iodine dyeing process is performed on the PVA film. Finally, a protection film is formed on an upper surface of the PVA film and a protection film is formed on a lower surface of the PVA film, so as to form the polarizer.

  • Publication number: 20050024591
Abstract: Reflective polarization valve engine and projection display are disclosed. Instead of prism PBS, the projector applies wire-grid polarizers with advantages of higher heat-resistance, no limitation of the incident angle and no birefringence effects, to provide excellent contrast luminance. The light source in the projector utilizes an elliptical lamp under a telecentric optical system to achieve higher efficiency and avoid color gradient. In addition, the light paths are in special arrangement. The original beam is first splitted into RGB, and then proceeding with color-recombining right after being polarized via wire-grid polarizers and analyzed by reflective polarization valves. Hence, the analyzed beams finally are recombined images with superior performances.

  • Publication number: 20040190149
Abstract: An image projection system utilizing a convergent light source and an optical polarizing module. The optical polarizing module includes a wire grid polarizing beam splitter (WG-PBS), reflecting S-polarized light, forming a first beam, and transmitting P-polarized light. A mirror is disposed near the WG-PBS at a predetermined acute angle to reflect light with S-polarization, passing through the WG-PBS again and forming a second beam. A first lens array couples the first and second beams and individually directs the first and second beams to different portions on a second lens array. The second beam with P-polarization is directed to a plurality of half-wave plates and converted into S-polarized light, which can be modulated by a liquid crystal display panel to project an image.
