  • Publication number: 20160169929
Abstract: A method of determining, with a processing device, an instantaneous speed of an arrow shot from a bow having a bow string is provided, the arrow shot at a target having a target-face. The method includes recording a signal that includes a first peak occurring substantially at a start of a free flight of the arrow and a second peak occurring substantially at a moment of impact of the arrow with the target, the start of the free-flight occurring when a proximate end of the arrow reaches substantially a neutral position of the bow string; processing the signal to determine a duration of the free flight of the arrow; determining a distance between a location from which the arrow is loosed and a location of the target-face; and determining the instantaneous speed of the arrow, at least in part, by employing each of the duration of the free flight and the distance.

  • Patent number: 9005057
Abstract: According to one aspect, an apparatus is configured to couple to an arrow-mounted electronic device where the apparatus includes a housing, a receptacle included in the housing and at least one electrical contact configured to couple to a contact included in the arrow-mounted electronic device. According to one embodiment, the receptacle is configured to receive at least a portion of the arrow-mounted electronic device, the at least one electrical contact includes a spring-bias in a first direction and the spring bias is opposed with the arrow-mounted electronic device inserted within the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 8733168
Abstract: In one aspect, a method of determining an instantaneous speed of an arrow, includes determining a time-of-flight of the arrow; determining a distance between a location from which the arrow is loosed and a location of a target-face; providing, with an apparatus included in the arrow, data from at least a portion of a free flight of the arrow; and determining the instantaneous speed of the arrow for at least one point of the free-flight by employing each of: a) the time-of-flight; b) the distance; and c) at least some of the data provided by the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20110202152
Abstract: In one aspect, a performance of a group of athletes is analyzed by locating at least one acceleration sensor on at least one member of the group, collecting acceleration-sensor output data during performance of an athletic event with the electronic apparatus, and comparing information provided by the acceleration-sensor output data to at least one predetermined threshold. In one embodiment, a plurality of acceleration sensors can be included on each member of the group of athletes, respectively, and the performance of the team in aggregate can be analyzed with the information provided by the acceleration-sensor output data from the plurality of acceleration sensors.
