  • Publication number: 20230363327
Abstract: The invention provides a method for determining a physical vessel parameter of a vascular tissue in a vascular plant (10), wherein the method comprises: a detection stage comprising detecting acoustic emission radiation (121) from the vascular plant (10) and providing an emission-related signal; and an analysis stage comprising determining the physical vessel parameter based on the emission-related signal, wherein the physical vessel parameter comprises an elasticity or a vessel dimension, and wherein the analysis stage comprises fitting at least part of the emission-related signal to a model of flexural modes of a cylindrical beam, and determining the physical vessel parameter based on the model.

  • Patent number: 7688339
Abstract: A device is for scribing a visible label on the medium. The medium (11), for example an optical disc, has a label side provided with a radiation sensitive layer for creating the visible label via a beam of radiation. The device has a head (22) and a positioning unit (25) for radially positioning a scribing spot, which unit has a course positioning system by movements of the head and a fine positioning system. The device has a generator unit (32) for, during at least one boundary trace of the substantially parallel traces which precedes or succeeds a head movement, temporarily applying a broadening signal (35) to the fine positioning system for broadening the boundary trace in the transverse direction. This has the advantage that unwritten annular areas called white bands, which may occur due to mismatch of the head movement and the fine positioning system, are reduced or prevented.

  • Publication number: 20090135266
Abstract: An image processing apparatus (1) receives a color input signal (3) and configurable user settings (7). The image processing apparatus (1) is adapted to transform the color input signal (3) into a modified color signal (9) for display on a color display (11). The image processing apparatus (1) transforms one or more colors in the color input signal (3) to another color or colors, such that the image signal can be viewed by a color blind person. The image processing apparatus (1) may also change the brightness level or texture setting of a particular color in order to make the color more visible to a colorblind person. The image processing apparatus is also adaptable to inform a user of the true color of a particular color in the color input signal.

  • Publication number: 20050060827
Abstract: A cleaning implement is provided for cleaning surfaces with a cleaning substrate. The cleaning implement includes a handle connected via a universal joint to a mop head. A portion of the universal joint forms a handgrip which allows a user to hold the mop head independently from the handle. The cleaning implement has a quick-disconnect mechanism which includes a male element located at a distal end of the handle and a female element located on the universal joint and which allow a user to easily disconnect the handle from the mop head.

  • Patent number: 5039641
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for modifying a molecular sieve, whereby the molecular sieve is brought into contact with a modifying agent containing at least one weak acid, a salt of a weak acid or a derivative of a weak acid of at least one element of Groups III, IV or V of the Periodic Table of Elements, by dry mixing the molecular sieve and the modifying agent, optionally followed by adding liquid to form a slurry or paste, whereafter the resulting mixture is subjected to a thermal treatment.

  • Patent number: 5032152
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the separation of at least one gas from a mixture containing at least two gases, which process comprises contacting a pore containing molecular sieve with the mixture of gaseous components, selectively adsorbing at least one component of the mixture in the pores of the molecular sieve, separating the molecular sieve from the non-adsorbed component or components and optionally desorbing the adsorbed component or components, the molecular sieve having been modified with a modifying agent containing at least one weak acid, a salt of a weak acid, or a derivative of a weak acid of at least one element of the Groups III, IV and V of the Periodic Table of Elements.
