  • Patent number: 11242808
Abstract: A method is provided for determining exhaust mass flow through a diesel particulate filter (DPF) in an engine arrangement including an engine and an exhaust after treatment system (EATS) comprising the DPF. The method comprises determining soot loading and soot distribution in the DPF, measuring pressure drop over the DPF, measuring pressure in the DPF, measuring temperature in the DPF, and determining exhaust mass flow through the DPF as a function of the measured pressure drop, the measured pressure, the measured temperature, and the soot loading and soot distribution. An arrangement is also provided for determining exhaust mass flow through a diesel particulate filter. A method for controlling one or more engine components, and an engine, are also provided.

  • Patent number: 11181058
Abstract: A method is provided for measuring exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) flow in. an engine system wherein turbo speed of a turbocharger, inlet pressure upstream of a compressor, boost pressure upstream of an engine, and engine intake temperature upstream of the engine are measured. Air mass flow into the engine system is calculated as a function of the turbo speed, inlet pressure, and boost pressure, exhaust mass flow is calculated as a function of the boost pressure, the engine intake temperature, volumetric efficiency of the engine, and engine size, and EGR flow is determined, by subtracting air mass flow from exhaust mass flow. A method for controlling emissions from an engine system, and an. engine system are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7063072
Abstract: Diesel engine with unit injectors and a catalytic converter arranged in the engine exhaust system, for reaction with uncombusted fuel. The injectors have spill valves, which in their closed position build up pressure in the injectors, and needle control valves, which in their closed position keep the needle valves of the injectors closed and which, when they are open, open the needle valves. The unit injectors have pump plungers, which are driven by individual cam elements whit a cam curve shaped so that a pressure is maintained in the injects for so long a period during one cycle that injection of fuel is permitted at least when an associated exhaust valve in the combustion chamber begins to open so late during the expansion stroke and temperature drop, that fuel after injection is not combusted in the cylinder but reaches the catalytic converted uncombusted.
