  • Patent number: 9065237
Abstract: Multi-mode diode emitters are stacked in a staircase formation to provide a spatially-multiplexed output. Improved coupling efficiency is achieved by providing tilted collimated output beams that determine an effective step height of the stepped structure. Since the effective step height is dependent on the tilt angle, a variable number of emitters can be used inside packages having a same physical step height, while still attaining high coupling efficiency.

Date of Patent: June 23, 2015
    Assignee: JDS Uniphase Corporation

  • Patent number: 8168219
Abstract: Tablets of a pharmaceutical, nutritional or vitamin active compound or composition, e.g. a poorly compressible drug are made by direct compression using a synergistic binder composition of co-processed (a) copolymer of vinylpyrrolidone (VP) and vinyl acetate (VA) and (b) microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), in a wt. ratio of (a):(b) of 1-30:99-70, which is spray dried to provide a readily compressible excipient binder powder for such active. • Publication number: 20080086018
Abstract: A process for producing phenol and methyl ethyl ketone comprises contacting benzene with a C4 alkylating agent under alkylation conditions with catalyst comprising zeolite beta or a molecular sieve having an X-ray diffraction pattern including d-spacing maxima at 12.4±0.25, 6.9±0.15, 3.57±0.07 and 3.42±0.07 Angstrom to produce an alkylation effluent comprising sec-butylbenzene. • Publication number: 20060217580
Abstract: In a process for producing a hydrocarbon composition, a feed comprising at least one C3 to C8 olefin and an olefinic recycle stream rich in C9? hydrocarbons is contacted with a crystalline molecular sieve catalyst having an average crystal size no greater than 0.05 micron and an alpha value between about 100 and about 600 in at least one reaction zone under olefin oligomerization conditions including an inlet temperature between about 150° C. and about 350° C., a pressure of at least 2,860 kPa and a recycle to feed weight ratio of about 0.1 to about 3.0. The contacting produces an oligomerization effluent stream, which is separated into at least a hydrocarbon product stream rich in C9+ hydrocarbons and the olefinic recycle stream.

  • Publication number: 20060194999
Abstract: Solid phosphoric acid (SPA) olefin oligomerization process units may be converted to operation with a more environmentally favorable solid catalyst. The SPA units in which a light olefin feed is oligomerized to form gasoline boiling range hydrocarbon product, is converted unit to operation with a molecular sieve based olefin oligomerization catalyst comprising an MWW zeolite material. Besides being more environmentally favorable in use, the MWW based zeolites offer advantages in catalyst cycle life, selectivity and product quality. After loading of the catalyst, the converted unit is operated as a fixed-bed unit by passing the C2-C4 olefinic feed to a fixed bed of the MWW zeolite condensation catalyst, typically at a temperature from 150 to 250° C., a pressure not greater than 7000 kPag, usually less than 4000 kPag and a space velocity up to 30 WHSV. The gasoline boiling range product is notable for a high level of branched chain octenes resulting in high octane quality.

  • Patent number: 5502759
Abstract: An apparatus and accompanying methods for preventing telephone toll fraud that relies on the use of centralized voice verification to authenticate a party claiming a particular identity and requesting service, i.e. access to a telephone network. A voice verification intelligent peripheral (VVIP) (300) is interposed between, e.g., a tandem switch (40) and a voice service node (VSN) (250) both used to provide alternate automated billing service (AABS). The VVIP intercepts all call processing messages that occur between these two components and, at a pre-defined point during the processing of an AABS call, holds a call processing message, specifically a successful line information database (LIDB) query response message, until a voice verification of a caller is complete.
