  • Patent number: 7387795
Abstract: The invention provides cosmetic compositions containing powders that are surface treated with organophosphonic acid compounds, where the surface treated particulates are simultaneously hydrophobic and lipophilic. The invention also provides (a) methods for preparing cosmetic compositions containing said powders, and (b) methods for preparing cosmetic compositions containing said powders where the powders have been treated via a volatile organic solvent-free manufacturing process.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 24, 2004
Date of Patent: June 17, 2008
    Inventors: Jane Hollenberg, Anthony Parker
  • Publication number: 20070253925
Abstract: Silicon-based tocopherol derivatives are provided, as well as methods for making the same, in which the derivatives have a tocopherol molecule having a silicon-based group. The derivatives are useful in cosmetic compositions, have antioxidant properties, enhance solubility and compatibility in cosmetic formulations having silicon-based materials within the compositions.

  • Patent number: 5310578
Abstract: A process for coating the surface of pigment and filler particles with an oleaginous and cosmetically functional material, characterized in that an aqueous suspension of the pigment or filler is mixed with an emulsion of said oleaginous material to be coated onto the surface of pigment or filler particles, followed by adding a component capable of breaking the emulsion to the thus obtained mixture, whereby the emulsified material coalesces onto the surface of the pigment or filler particles. The thus obtained pigments or fillers exhibit excellent properties when used in cosmetics.
