  • Patent number: 7892766
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and apparatuses for cell separation. In particular, the invention relates to separation of a particular cell type from a mixture of different cell types based on the differential rolling property of the particular cell type on a substrate coated with molecules that exhibits adhesive property with the particular cell type. This technology is adaptable for use in implantable shunts and devices for cell trafficking or tumor neutralization.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 17, 2008
Date of Patent: February 22, 2011
    Assignee: University of Rochester
Inventors: Michael King, Nichola Charles, Jane Liesveld, John P. Gentile, Nathan A. Clark, Nipa A. Mody

  • Publication number: 20090022768
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and apparatuses for neutralizing cancer cells. In particular, the invention relates to separating of cancer cell type from a mixture of different cell types based on the differential rolling property of cancer cell on a substrate coated with a first molecules that exhibits adhesive property with the particular cell type and neutralizing the cancer cell by a second molecule that is also coated on the substrate. This technology is adaptable for use in vivo, in vitro, or ex vivo tumor neutralization.

  • Publication number: 20070031406
Abstract: Methods and products are described for inducing B cell apoptosis, using antibody-induced apoptosis. Specifically, polyclonal antiserum or one or more monoclonal antibodies, either alone or in combination, as well as fragments or variants thereof are employed in the methods and products of the present invention. These antibodies, or fragments or variants thereof, are capable of binding to B cell surface markers under conditions effective to collectively or individually induce apoptosis of the contacted B cell. Consequently, the methods and products of the present invention can be used therapeutically to treat, or as a preventative agent to protect against, a B cell-related condition or disorder.
