Abstract: A system and method are provided for social networking among users of reusable items, such as a reusable gift wrap assembly. The system can include an application that runs on a mobile device that enables users to create and share digital messages for the recipient of the gift. The gift wrap assembly can include a reusable wrap and a reusable band for binding the wrap about the gift. The gift wrap assembly includes a unique identifier that is recognizable by the system. In this manner, the system can track the gift wrap as it travels among users, thereby creating a social network connection between users that have interacted with the gift wrap assembly.

When content, such as a web page, is detected as having an image, a system may generate a query that can be used to retrieve the image from a search engine. The query also causes the search engine to identify other images, which, since they satisfy the query, may be similar to the original image. An interface may be presented to the user that presents these alternative images. In this way, the user can be shown images that are similar to that which the original content author wanted the user to see, but where the additional images may be of higher quality.

Abstract: This invention relates to methods of making graft copolymers, and articles having such graft copolymers. The methods may provide better control than in radicalization or photoinitiated polymerization techniques. For example, a graft copolymer can be prepared by reacting an alkoxide ion with a polymer. The alkoxide, in turn, can be provided by any suitable technique, for example, by reacting an alcohol with a base. In some embodiments of the invention, the graft copolymers may be a normally hydrophobic polymer, such as a polysulfone, that has been made more hydrophilic due to the attachment of hydrophilic side groups such as polyethylene glycol or polypropylene glycol. The copolymers of the invention have many uses, for example, in films or porous membranes.
