Abstract: Compositions and methods are provided for use in controlling souring and corrosion causing prokaryotes, such as SRP, by treating oil and gas field environments or treatment fluids with a newly identified bacterial strain ATCC Accession No. PTA-124262 as a self-propagating whole cell that produces an anti-SRP bacteriocin in situ. In another aspect, the methods use one or more toxic peptides or proteins isolated therefrom in methods to control unwanted prokaryotic growth in these environments.

Abstract: The invention concerns self-adhering, water-resistant gel compositions capable of bringing a benefit or effect into their surrounding environment by diffusing an active volatile substance. The compositions are effective volatile releasing systems in both dry and wet environments and are capable of adhering to a surface to which they are applied. They can be used in a variety of applications, as self-contained fragrance gels or in consumer products.

Abstract: A method for dispensing an active volatile in the environment surrounding a surface, which comprises applying to the surface a self-adhering, water-resistant gel composition of at least one active volatile ingredient, silica, and a water-soluble cationic polysaccharide, and diffusing or releasing the volatile ingredient(s) from the gel in an amount sufficient to purify or sanitize the surrounding air, both in a dry condition or in the presence of humidity or water. The gel composition remains adhered to the surface and actively releases the volatile ingredient(s) even after being exposed to repeated water flows over the composition.

Abstract: An adapter for attachment to an existing single flush valve system to convert the single valve system to a dual flush valve system comprises a pair of tubular sections vertically offset from one another and connected by a hollow, enclosed channel. The upper section is adapted to engage a discharge pipe of an existing single flush valve system in order to select a discharge level for a lower volume flush and direct water flowing through the discharge pipe through the adapter. The bottom section of the adapter includes a pivotable flapper valve that can be operated independently of the flapper valve disposed on the single flush system in order to provide a greater volume of water for flushing of the toilet. A mounting arrangement is also provided for attachment to the toilet tank which enables the existing and additional flapper valves to be selectively activated using a pair of handles connected to the arrangement.
