Abstract: A translation system that accepts verbal and typed words and ultimately serves to recognize the specific language of these words. An electronic apparatus collects spoken and typed words such that the words are stored within the system. A multiple-language database operates in communication with a translation mechanism to identify which language is being contained within the electronic apparatus. The words are then translated and presented to a user via audio and visual means. A virtual character also can be created such that verbal or typed words are translated into sign language and presented in sequence via a display screen.
