  • Patent number: 6828385
Abstract: A process has now been discovered that permits the simultaneous crosslinking and derivation of an, optionally hydrogenated, polymer whose backbone is composed of a conjugated diene, an unsaturated nitrile and an unsaturated carboxylic acid in the presence of a coupling/condensing agent. This permits the preparation of a novel polymeric material that is an optionally hydrogenated polymer of a conjugated diene, an unsaturated nitrile and a derived unsaturated acid. It has also been found that this novel polymeric material has unexpected and valuable properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 8, 2002
Date of Patent: December 7, 2004
    Assignee: Bayer Inc.
Inventors: Janet N. Gamlin, Sharon X. Guo
  • Publication number: 20030134979
Abstract: A conjugate is formed by blending a polyamide with a hydrogenated carboxylated nitrile rubber at elevated temperature. The conjugate is readily formable by molding or extrusion, and it displays excellent heat, oil-resistant and barrier properties that render it suitable for use, for example, in many automotive under-the-hood applications.

    Filed: September 4, 2002
    Publication date: July 17, 2003
Inventors: Lorenzo Ferrari, Janet N. Gamlin
