Patent number: 9876655Abstract: A Precoding-codebook-base Secure Uplink (PSU) scheme is proposed to utilize the channel reciprocity, uniqueness, and randomness in solving the secure initiation problem. A UE receives a first reference signal via first downlink channel in a mobile communication network. The UE performs channel estimation based on the first reference signal and thereby obtaining a first channel response matrix of the first downlink channel. The UE then encodes secrecy information onto a second reference signal. The UE transmits the second reference signal via a second uplink channel. The secrecy information is hidden in the uplink channel through a precoding operation such that the secrecy information can be extracted when the second uplink channel is reciprocal to the first downlink channel.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2014Date of Patent: January 23, 2018Assignee: MEDIATEK Singapore Pte. Ltd.Inventors: Pang-Chang Lan, Tze-Ping Low, Jangwook Moon

Patent number: 9521622Abstract: A wireless communication system is provided that includes a base station receiving a plurality of input signals that are selectively provided to a plurality of precoders. The precoders perform precoding operations on the input signals and output a first signal. The base station includes an algorithm that minimizes total transmit power per antenna under signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) target constraints or maximizes the SINR under a sum of power constraint so as to determine power allocation and obtain efficient precoders. A number of mobile receiver units receive the first signal and performs their respective operations to extrapolate the linear estimate of the input signals.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2011Date of Patent: December 13, 2016Assignee: MediaTek Singapore Pte. Ltd.Inventors: Yu-Han Yang, Yonggang Hao, William Plumb, Timothy Perrin Fisher-Jeffes, Jangwook Moon, Zoran Zvonar, Tze-Ping Low

Patent number: 9450658Abstract: A method of transmitting extra spatial layers over a wireless channel is proposed. In one exemplary embodiment, the invention is directed to a method for scheduling higher number of layers than the preferred number reported from a mobile. In one exemplary embodiment, the invention is directed to a method for reporting multiple precoding candidates for the rank that is higher than the preferred rank reported from a mobile. In one exemplary embodiment, the invention is directed to a method for appending extra columns in the precoding matrix for the extra layers that a base station transmits. In one exemplary embodiment, the invention is directed to a method for transmitting extra data streams on the same wireless channel. In one exemplary embodiment, the invention is directed to a method for saving battery power utilizing the extra layers.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2015Date of Patent: September 20, 2016Assignee: MEDIATEK INC.Inventors: Jangwook Moon, Tze-Ping Low
