  • Publication number: 20110242041
Abstract: In accordance with an example embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus comprises an element having at least one elongated member, the at least one elongated member having at least one conductive end and being extendable from a retracted position to at least one extended position; a component coupled with said element, the component having at least one conductive surface at least partially opposing a side of said at least one conductive end when said at least one elongated member is in said at least one extended position; and a dielectric disposed on at least one of said at least one conductive end and said at least one conductive surface.

  • Publication number: 20090167507
Abstract: The invention relates to a user interface of an electronic device. The user interface includes a touch sensitive display panel and an actuator that is arranged to generate a signal that is detectable for a human being. The actuator is arranged to alter a property of the signal as a response to a situation in which an external object is slid on a surface of the touch sensitive display panel. The property of the signal can be, for example, amplitude or frequency of mechanical vibration generated to a housing of the electronic device. The signal represents a feedback to a user of the electronic device and it makes the user interface more illustrative when the touch sensitive display panel is used for controlling a quantity having a continuous nature, e.g. volume of voice generated with a speaker element.
