  • Patent number: 9335825
Abstract: An apparatus including: a radio transmitter configured to transmit radio signals that are at least partially reflected by a human body; one or more radio receivers configured to receive the transmitted radio signals after having been at least partially reflected by a human body of a user; a gesture detector configured to detect a predetermined time-varying modulation that is present in the received radio signals compared to the transmitted radio signals; and a controller configured to interpret the predetermined time-varying modulation as a predetermined user input command and change the operation of the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20120280900
Abstract: Apparatus comprises a processor; a user interface enabling user interaction with one or more software applications associated with the processor; first and second sensors configured to detect, and generate signals corresponding to, objects located within respective first and second sensing zones remote from the apparatus, wherein the sensors are configured such that their respective sensing zones overlap spatially to define a third, overlapping, zone in which both the first and second sensors are able to detect a common object; and a gesture recognition system for receiving signals from the sensors, the gesture recognition system being responsive to detecting an object inside the overlapping zone to control a first user interface function in accordance with signals received from both sensors.

  • Publication number: 20110181510
Abstract: An apparatus including one or more radio transmitters configured to transmit radio signals that are at least partially reflected by an object or objects moving as a consequence of a gesture; multiple radio receivers configured to receive the transmitted radio signals after having been at least partially reflected by an object or objects moving as a consequence of a gesture; a detector configured to detect an attribute of the received signals, for each receiver, that varies with the position of the object or objects moving as a consequence of the gesture; and a controller configured to interpret the detected attributes, for the receivers, as a user input associated with the gesture.

  • Publication number: 20090322619
Abstract: The present invention relates to an antenna arrangement, an adaptive system comprising such arrangement, a portable electronic device comprising such arrangement or adaptive system, a method of manufacturing such an arrangement, and a computer-readable storage medium encoded with instructions for performing such method. The antenna arrangement can comprise at least one antenna element (110) configured to supply a current, at least one ground plane element (120) configured to conduct the current, and at least one magnetic element (130) configured to influence at least a part of the current in order to modify an electrical length of the at least one ground plane element (120). It enables to increase the electrical length of a terminal chassis, which may increase the operation bandwidth of the antenna-chassis combination. This effect can be further increased when combining at least one slot and at least one magnetic element covering the same at least partially.
