Publication number: 20170038094Abstract: A fuel fired, atmospheric water heater has a burner positioned inside a combustion chamber. All combustion air entering the combustion chamber must pass through a damper. The damper is operable to adjust the flow resistance to combustion air entering the combustion chamber. The damper is biased to a closed position such that during non-firing periods of the water heater, the damper significantly reduces the flow rate of combustion air being provided to the combustion chamber reducing standby heat loss. An actuator is in fluid communication with a fuel supply line such that when pressurized fuel is provided to the burner, the pressurized fuel causes the actuator to move the damper to an open position to permit operative combustion air delivery to the combustion chamber during firing periods of the water heater.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 5, 2016Publication date: February 9, 2017Inventors: Robert Frederick Poehlman, Janice Fitzgerald, J. Eric Arnold, Timothy Mitchel Smith, Chad Taylor Thompson, George W. Kraus, II, Duane A. Lee

Patent number: 9391493Abstract: An electric machine includes a stator having a first end and a second end and an end frame including a first cup portion arranged to at least partially contain a portion of the stator. The end frame is positioned adjacent the first end of the stator. A potting cup includes a second cup portion arranged to at least partially contain a portion of the stator. The potting cup is positioned adjacent the second end of the stator. A potting member is coupled to the stator, the end frame, and the potting cup to permanently bond the end frame, the potting cup, and the stator to one another.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2013Date of Patent: July 12, 2016Assignee: Regal Beloit America, Inc.Inventors: Ngan Fai Leung, Stephen Thomas English, Matthew William Critchley, Janice Fitzgerald, Frank Edward Staigl, III, Joseph Henry, Barbara Mary Shanks, John R. Publication number: 20130342051Abstract: An electric motor assembly. A stator includes a set of windings and has a first end, a second end, and an outer radial surface. A rotor includes a shaft having an axis. A first frame supports the shaft at a first axial position. A canopy substantially surrounds the first frame. The canopy includes a fluid inlet and a fluid discharge. A second frame supports the shaft at a second axial position and includes at least one fluid outlet. A chute is positioned downstream of the canopy fluid discharge. The chute directs fluid flow along the outer radial surface of the stator towards the fluid outlet. A fan is coupled to the shaft downstream of the fluid outlet for rotation with the shaft.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2013Publication date: December 26, 2013Applicant: Regal Beloit America, Inc.Inventors: Ngan Fai Leung, Stephen Thomas English, Matthew William Critchley, Janice Fitzgerald, Frank Edward Staigl, III, Joseph Henry, Barbara Mary Shanks, John R.
