  • Publication number: 20250177613
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for creating visibility-enhancing markers which can be applied onto a wide variety of materials with a very high degree of geometric variability and which can be used both for radiological as well as for sonographic applications. According to the invention, this is achieved substantially by way of novel markings created by means of a polyurethane coating into which a particle film with functional properties and high particle density is embedded. By using a laser, only targeted coating regions in selected areas are dried and chemically cross-linked. Exposed areas are created by subsequently rinsing off non-irradiated coating material. The markings can thus be created in any geometric shape.

  • Publication number: 20220341061
Abstract: The invention relates to a cellulosic fibre loaded with a biologically active substance formed by the steps of: a) producing a cellulosic fibre loaded with ion exchanger, b) after-treating the fibre thus produced with an aqueous solution of a metal salt which exhibits antibacterial activity and/or antiviral activity, and c) after-treating the loaded fibre with an aqueous fixing solution to convert the metal salt into a water-insoluble form. The cellulosic fibres thus produced can be used to form textile fabrics, wound dressings, sanitary products, specialty papers, packaging or filter materials.

  • Publication number: 20150175787
Abstract: A tribologically modified ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) polymer composition is disclosed. The UHMW-PE polymer composition is comprised of an UHMW-PE polymer and at least one tribological modifier. The tribological modifier may be comprised of a silicone powder, a silicone oil, an olefin oligomer, an ultrahigh molecular weight silicone, or any combination thereof. The composition and polymer article produced therefrom may exhibit improved tribological properties, such as a reduced coefficient of friction and low wear, when contacted against a counter-material in comparison to an unmodified UHMW-PE polymer composition.

  • Publication number: 20140054217
Abstract: A process for the aeration of wastewater employs an aerator comprising a porous body having an average pore size from 5 to 250 ?m produced by sintering a composition comprising polyethylene particles having a molecular weight of at least 3×105 g/mol as determined by ASTM-D 4020 and a weight average particle size, D50, from 20 to 650 ?m. The porous aerator is provided in the wastewater and an oxygen-containing gas, such as air, is passed through the porous aerator into the wastewater to assist in purification of the wastewater.

  • Publication number: 20130313196
Abstract: In a process for the desalination of water, an impure, salt-containing water feed is passed through one or more filter media to remove from the feed impurities having a particle size greater than 50 ?m and produce a first filtered water stream. The first filtered water stream is then passed through at least one further filter having an average pore size of 1 ?m to 60 ?m produced from sintered polyethylene particles having a molecular weight of at least 4×105 g/mol as determined by ASTM-D 4020 to remove at least a portion of the impurities having a particle size less than or equal to 50 ?m from the first filtered water stream and produce a second filtered water stream. The second filtered water stream is passed directly to a reverse osmosis membrane to produce a purified water stream.

  • Publication number: 20130180588
Abstract: Generally, solar cell backsheets may include high to ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene. Advantageously, said backsheets may be single layer structures. Said backsheets may be used in conjunction with photovoltaic devices, photovoltaic modules, photovoltaic arrays, or components thereof. Said backsheets may be formed by methods including compression molding, compression molding then skiving, RAM extrusion, screw extrusion, band sintering, and hybrids thereof.
