Patent number: 10669608Abstract: Provided is a process for recovery of gold from gold-bearing raw materials comprising (a) leaching said gold-bearing raw material in a chloride containing leaching solution containing a total concentration of less than 120 g/L of halide ions, whereby the total concentration of chloride ions is less than 120 g/L of to dissolve gold and to obtain a leach solution comprising gold in solution; and simultaneously contacting the leach solution comprising gold in solution with a re-sorptive material to obtain a leach solution comprising gold-bearing re-sorptive material; and (b) recovering gold and optionally silver from the said gold-bearing re-sorptive material.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2015Date of Patent: June 2, 2020Assignee: OUTOTEC (FINLAND) OYInventors: Mari Lundström, John O'Callaghan, Timo Haakana, Riina Ahtiainen, Janne Karonen

Patent number: 10023936Abstract: Provided is a method of recovering copper and one or more precious metals comprising leaching copper-bearing ore and/or concentrate under atmospheric or slightly pressurized conditions at a temperature below the boiling point of the leach solution in a sulfuric acidic solution in the presence of one or more alkali metal or alkali earth metal halides, whereby the total halide concentration is from 30 to 115 g/L, to dissolve copper and to obtain a leaching liquor comprising copper, sulfur species, and halides in solution. The leaching liquor is then subjected to a solid-liquid separation after which a first aqueous pregnant leach solution and a copper depleted leaching residue are obtained. Copper is purified by solvent extraction from the first aqueous pregnant leach solution to obtain a first copper-containing loaded organic solution and a first aqueous raffinate. The copper containing loaded organic solution is stripped and copper is recovered.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2014Date of Patent: July 17, 2018Assignee: OUTOTEC (FINLAND) OYInventors: Kari Valkama, Pia Sinisalo, Janne Karonen, Kari Hietala

Patent number: 9725787Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing a lithium-containing solution from a lithium-containing raw-material solution, by: a) precipitating a first part of magnesium and calcium from the lithium-containing raw-material solution, b) extracting a second part of calcium and magnesium from the lithium-containing solution by liquid-liquid extraction, a resultant product being a lithium-containing solution. The invention also relates to equipment for producing a lithium-containing solution from a lithium-containing raw-material solution, including a precipitation unit to remove a first part of magnesium and calcium and an extraction unit to receive the lithium-containing raw-material solution and to remove therefrom a second part of calcium and magnesium by liquid-liquid extraction, and control unit to control the operation of the precipitation unit.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2013Date of Patent: August 8, 2017Assignee: Outotec (Finland) OyInventors: Hannu Laitala, Janne Karonen, Liisa Haavanlammi

Patent number: 6821311Abstract: A method for manufacturing a solid product containing nitrogen and phosphor, particular a solid ammonium phosphate and/or urea ammonium phosphate product, in which method the solution containing urea and phosphoric acid is heated. Water then evaporates from the solution and the urea in the solution decomposes into ammonia and carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide exits the reactor together with water vapor; the generated ammonia neutralizes the phosphoric acid. A suspension containing ammonium phosphate and/or urea ammonium phosphate is obtained, which is solidified, dried, crushed, ground and/or granulated. The end product as such can be used as a fertilizer or it can be used as part of a mixed fertilizer.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2002Date of Patent: November 23, 2004Assignee: Kemira Growhow OyInventors: Janne Karonen, Anders Weckman
