  • Publication number: 20180284452
Abstract: A HUD for a helmet having an image projector attached to a body and configured to project images. The HUD has a projection optical combiner configured to produce a transparent display of the images. A holder supports the combiner outside the helmet such that the images are visible to a user of the helmet when the head-up display is in use. A forward facing part of the combiner, such as the entire combiner or its forward facing portion, is user replaceable. A system that has the HUD and a spare user replaceable forward facing part and a system having the HUD and the helmet are additionally disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9781418
Abstract: This disclosure relates to implementing an adaptive deadzone for one or more quantized coefficients in a quantized block. In particular, one or more candidate blocks with one or more coefficients and an end of block (EOB) indicator are generated. The one or more coefficients are a subset of the one or more quantized coefficients in the quantized block. A cost value for each of the one or more candidate blocks is calculated based at least in part on a rate value and a distortion value of the one or more coefficients in each of the one or more candidate blocks. Accordingly, a candidate block from the one or more candidate blocks with a lowest calculated cost value is selected as an output block.

  • Patent number: 7524458
Abstract: Screen plate (10) of an imaging measuring instrument, intended for use in absorption measurement of samples relating to the fields of biochemistry and medicine. The screen plate comprises a plate (11) made of light-absorbing material, such as darkened or colored glass, preferably gray glass. One surface of the screen plate is provided with a scattering and/or fluorescent surface layer (12) and the opposite side is provided with an anti-reflection film (13). Instead of a scattering and/or fluorescent surface layer, the absorbing plate may also have both scattering and/or fluorescent properties.

  • Patent number: 7199879
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of biochemical laboratory instrumentation for different applications of measuring properties of samples on e.g. microtitration plates and corresponding sample supports. The object of the invention is achieved by providing an optical measurement instrument for photoluminescence, chemiluminescence and/or AlphaScreen measurements wherein different optical modules are used for alternative measurements. The excitation pulses for the alternative measurements are guided via two different routes to optical modules, the routes reaching the module in different angles. This way it is possible to use alternative radiation sources without optical switches and without changing the optical system. The object of the invention is further achieved by providing an additional lens in the optical module when a thermo plate is used. This way it is possible to achieve a correct optical focus in different measurement modes not depending on the use of the thermo plate.

  • Patent number: 7106694
Abstract: The invention concerns the control of connections in cellular telecommunication systems. According to the invention, the available radio resources are controlled by allowing only certain conbinations of transport formats to be used by a single user. The inventive method restricts the combinations of bearer bit rates which can be used, without strictly limiting some bearers from using highest bit rates. This inventive approach allows flexible overall control of radio resources, while retaining the possibility of bearers to select between different bit rates.

  • Patent number: 7068313
Abstract: The invention applies to the binning procedure of data, which is measured with a CCD (Charge-Coupled Device) sensor unit. There is created a solution for measurement of radiation, in which a good signal-to-noise value is achieved, and still it is possible to exploit standard CCD units. This is achieved by selecting the binning areas on the basis of position of defected pixels (461, 462) in a CCD unit (411). One idea is to determine the locations of the defected pixels and to use this information for determining pixel groups that form the super pixels. In a preferable embodiment super pixels (A1–A5, B1–B5, C1–C5, D1–D5, E1–E5) are first determined using a selected binning factor, and those super pixels that would be affected by defected pixels are then reduced into one or more smaller super pixels (B2i–E2i, B2k–E2k, C4i–E4i), which are not affected by the defects.

  • Publication number: 20040057870
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of biochemical laboratory. More particularly the invention relates to the improved and more accurate instrumental features of equipment used as e.g. fluorometers, photometers and luminometers. The object of the invention is achieved by providing an optical measurement instrument for photoluminescence and chemiluminescence measurements wherein there is chemiluminescence detector in such a proximity to the sample that the emission radiation from the sample may reach the detector via a direct path. This way it is possible to achieve an essentially improved accuracy of the chemiluminescence measurement as well as an improved overall efficiency of the optical measurements.

  • Patent number: 6671286
Abstract: Data to be transmitted in a telecommunications system is arranged in frames (100). In order to process the data to be transmitted, a number of mutually optional actions is available. In order to indicate the actions employed in the processing of the data to be transmitted, the transmitting device includes in the frame to be transmitted a predetermined number of control bits (101), the value of said control bits indicating how the transmittable data contained in the frame is processed prior to transmission. In the arrangement according to the invention, there is formed (302) information as regards how many mutually optional actions there are available for processing the data to be transmitted, there is defined (302) the number of control bits contained in the frame, so that the number of actions indicated by the allowed control bit values is at least as high as the number of available, mutually optional actions, and there is included (307) in the frame to be transmitted a predetermined number of control bits.

  • Patent number: 6636497
Abstract: A method, and a radio transmitter using the method, is disclosed for scheduling air interface capacity between user services in a radio system. The method includes defining a nominal service bit rate, a nominal capacity of the service, and an effective coding rate of the service, and scheduling air interface frame capacity between at least two different services. The scheduling includes computing the bit rate of a first service by multiplying the nominal capacity of the first service by the effective coding rate of the first service, and adding to this normal bit rate of the first service borrowed extra capacity of at least one other service, the bit rate obtained from the extra capacity computed by multiplying a predetermined amount of the nominal capacity of the other service by the effective coding rate of the first service.
