Abstract: The invention relates to a method for updating a wireless device connected to a cellular network utilizing Instant Messaging and Presence Service protocol (IMPS) defined by open Mobile Alliance. In the method a server connected to the cellular network transmits a configuration message to the wireless device including a CIDPrefix, which includes a provider specific identity string. The wireless device which has received the configuration message adds to the provider-specific identity string separation marks and a supplier-specific internal identity string. After that the wireless device uses this concatenated identity string as a ClientID with the server which sent the configuration message. The invention relates also to a configuration message, wireless device, server and device management system utilizing the method. The invention relates also to computer programs implementing the method in a server and a wireless device.

Abstract: An indication of a device management broadcast is received. This device management broadcast is in the form of a file delivery session, such as a FLUTE session. Further, a transport object of the device management broadcast is received. This transport object may include one or more device management messages in compressed or uncompressed form. Moreover, the indication of the broadcast may be received in various forms. Examples of such forms include an electronic service guide (ESG), one or more short messaging service (SMS) messages, and/or one or more session description protocol (SDP) messages.

Abstract: In a method for the delivery of deployment components to an electronic device, a management session is set-up between the electronic device and a server. The electronic device receives a location for a deployment component from the server. A target state is received for the deployment component in the electronic device from the server. A place for a management object representing the deployment component in a management object data structure is determined in the electronic device based on the target state. The deployment component is downloaded in the electronic device from the location.
