  • Patent number: 7017855
Abstract: Successive machine reels are reeled from a paper web (W) so the machine reel (R) that is becoming full is reeled in contact with a movable pressing device (5) at a second reeling nip (N2) in a final stationary reeling station apart from a device (1) forming a first reeling nip (N1). A new, empty reel spool (2) is taken to a transfer device (6) and the change is conducted when the reel spool is located in the transfer device (6). The reel spool (2) with machine reel (R) is transferred after the change by the transfer device (6), while in nip contact with the pressing device (5) away from the first nip contact (N1) to the final reeling station, where the machine reel is reeled so that it becomes full, in nip contact (N2) with the pressing device (5), whereafter the transfer device returns to the change station.

  • Patent number: 6905090
Abstract: In the method and device in connection with a reel-up of a paper web there is a rotating reel spool (2) around which a reel (R) has been formed from the paper web (W) passed to the reel-up. In the method web (W) passed to the reel is cut, and the surface layers of the reel are bound by a pressing device (3) which is in contact with the surface of the rotating reel (R) and has a press member (3b) forming a nip with the peripheral surface of the reel and rotating substantially at the same surface speed therewith. In addition to using the press member (3b), the final end, i.e.

  • Patent number: 6863238
Abstract: A paper web reeled on a reeling core is affected to form a reel at least by means of the torque of a reeling cylinder and the nip load, wherein in connection with the reel change a new reeling core is brought in nip contact with the reeling cylinder above the reeling cylinder, together with a change device especially a so-called gooseneck. During the reel change an adhesive or the like is applied between the layers of the paper web in connection with the cutting of the paper web by means of a cutting device. The adhesive or the like is applied on the surface of the reel that is being formed by means of a member applying the adhesive.

  • Patent number: 6685133
Abstract: The invention relates to a method in continuous unwinding of a paper web, in which a paper reel (3) wound on a reeling core (2) or the like is unwound by rotating the same to guide the paper web (1) to a further processing stage. The method is characterized in that the shape of the outer surface of the unwound paper reel (3) is measured with the aim of detecting the defects possibly occurring in the paper reel (3) the invention also relates to an apparatus for applying the method.

  • Patent number: 6626394
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus in a reeling process of a paper web. A paper web (PR) is continuously reeled around a reeling core (10) via a roll assembly (T). A first press device arrangement (8) is arranged to move with respect to the frame (16) of the reel-up and by means of the first press device arrangement (8) a first nip contact (N1) is maintained to the paper web (PR) that is being formed on the reeling core, and the first press device arrangement (8) is transferred with respect to the frame (16) of the reel-up into a nip contact (N2) with a second press device arrangement (11). According to the invention, the section of the roll assembly (T) before the first press device arrangement (8) and the first press arrangement (8) are formed as separate units. The paper web (PR) is guided immediately into nip contact (N1) in the first press device arrangement (8) via the roll assembly (T) stationary with respect to the frame (16) of the reel-up.

  • Patent number: 6622958
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for reeling up, in which a paper web or the like is continuously reeled on a reeling core. The formation of the paper reel is controlled at least by means of an actuator (6) of the reeling core (4), advantageously by means of a centre-drive, an actuator (3) of a primary surface drive device (2) of the paper reel, and a nip load (N1) effective between the outer perimeter of a paper reel (5) formed on the reeling core (4) and the outer perimeter of the primary surface drive device (2) of the paper reel, said nip load being produced by means of an actuator (10), a so-called nip load device. According to the invention the torque (Mrs) produced by the actuator (3) of the primary surface drive device (2) of the paper reel is selected to be smaller than the sum (&Sgr;Mi) of the torque values produced by the other actuators driving the paper reel that is being formed.

  • Patent number: 6536704
Abstract: In the method for controlling the structure of a reel, a continuous paper web (W) is reeled around a reel spool (2) to form a reel (R), and one or more variables are measured from the web (W). When a particular, predetermined change occurs in the variable, the lateral oscillation of the web is changed, by means of which the web is guided to different locations in the reel (R) in the axial direction of the reel spool (2). The change can be implemented by starting the oscillation or by changing the oscillation in progress. The change can be implemented on the basis of the changes in the transverse profile of the web (W).

  • Patent number: 6354531
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for continuously reeling a paper web, especially a high-gloss magazine paper web, around a reel spool. The apparatus comprises means for guiding the paper web towards the reel spool, means for winding the paper web around the reel spool to form a paper roll, and means for positioning the paper web on the roll in different axial positions with respect to said reel spool. The means for positioning the paper web on the roll in different axial positions comprises oscillating means provided for an oscillating movement of the reel spool in cross direction of the paper web.
