  • Patent number: 5985441
Abstract: A linerless label product, method of making, apparatus and method for dispensing the product wherein a convolutely wound web roll has one face coated with pressure sensitive adhesive while the other face is coated with a release material, the adhesive is interrupted in longitudinally spaced areas to provide transversely extending bands free of pressure sensitive adhesive with the web areas between bands being labels embodying alpha shapes, numeric shapes, graphics, thermally activated material and/or self-contained material; the preparation method including providing signal-stimulating means for each band and the apparatus and method of dispensing employs sensing of the signal-stimulating means to transversely sever the web in the bands.

  • Patent number: 5890743
Abstract: An assembly and method for making a card intermediate in which a series of spaced apart two layer laminates are arranged with the layers in face-to-face relation with a rupturable adhesive therebetween and a first of the layers being a transparent film, advancing the laminates toward a uniting station, providing a length of imprintable material having first and second surfaces with spaced areas of release material on the first surface and advancing the length toward the uniting station, adhesively uniting in the station the first layer of the series of laminates to the length in said spaced areas with each laminate extending beyond its united areas, and diecutting the length and the first layer to provide a generally rectangular closed perimeter diecut, the diecut also having a segment terminating short of the first layer and dividing the perimeter into two equal portions with one of the portions being within the area.

  • Patent number: 5867102
Abstract: An integrated pressure sensitive adhesive backed label assembly includes a security device such as an electronic article surveillance device, security tag or other antitheft device on a bottom side of the label so that the security device is not readily noticeable to the consumer. The label assembly can have the security device bonded to the adhesive backing of the label by separating the release liner from the label, placing the security device on the label and reapplying the release liner. Alternatively, as portions of the release liner can be cut and removed to expose a small area of the adhesive so that the security device can be attached directly to the label. The small area of the release liner can be cut and the security device attached to the cut portion so that the remaining portion of the release liner can be separated while leaving the cut portion and the security device attached to the label.
