  • Publication number: 20070191784
Abstract: A medication dispensing apparatus having a gear set (62) to provide a mechanical advantage to the plunging of the apparatus plunger (64). The gear set has a first pinion (114) in meshed engagement with a rack (91) of the plunger, and a second pinion (126) in meshed engagement with a rack (80) of a drive member (68) of the apparatus. The gear set operatively interconnects the plunger and the drive member such that after the plunger is moved relative to the housing (30, 31) in proximal direction to prepare the apparatus for injection, the plunger, when distally moved, causes the drive member to advance in a distal direction to force medication through an outlet, typically provided with an injection needle (40), at the distal end (22) of the apparatus. An opening (130) through one of the pinions accommodates the drive member to allow for a compact apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20070158141
Abstract: A conveyor passenger interface system is described. The system includes a passenger reception area (10) having a mechanism (14) for receiving a voice request from a passenger. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the voice request receiving mechanism (14) is a sound dome. The system further includes a device (18) responsive to the voice request for identifying a conveyor for transporting the passenger to a desired location and for identifying the conveyor to the passenger. The system of the present invention has utility in elevator systems as well as other transportation systems.

  • Publication number: 20060206057
Abstract: A medication dispensing apparatus that provides a mechanical advantage. During dose preparing, a nut rotating element (410) and a screw element (368) are in a first axial arrangement such that a screwing motion of the nut rotating element and screw element relative to the apparatus housing that moves the elements a first axial distance from a home position screws a nut (364) along a drive member threaded shaft (362) a second axial distance different than the first axial distance. During dose dispensing, the nut rotating element and the screw element are in a second axial arrangement, whereby a screwing motion of the screw element relative to the housing back toward the home position advances a plunger (366) in the distal direction to axially advance the nut and thereby the drive member and a fluid container piston to dispense medicine.

  • Publication number: 20060069355
Abstract: A medication dispensing apparatus having an actuator that is laterally squeezable to dispense medication. The apparatus includes a supply of medication that is dispensed when a piston is advanced by a drive member. A dose to be dispensed is selectively set by operation of a dosing member, which operation causes the actuator to shift in a direction transverse to the direction the piston is advanced to dispense medication. The actuator shifts in this traverse direction from a ready position a distance that is a function of the selectively set dose. When the actuator is squeezed back to its ready position, the drive member is shifted to advance the piston to dispense the medication.

  • Publication number: 20050171476
Abstract: A medication injecting apparatus having a motor-driven drive member that when advanced inserts into a fluid container for forcing fluid therefrom. The drive member includes an internal hollow in which fits at least a portion of the motorized driver assembly when the drive member is retracted to allow a compact apparatus to be provided.

  • Publication number: 20050165363
Abstract: A medication dispensing apparatus having a gear set (64) to provide a mechanical advantage to the plunging of the apparatus plunger (66). The gear set (64) has a first pinion (114) in meshed engagement with a rack of the plunger (102), and a second pinion (126) in meshed engagement with a rack of a drive member (80) of the apparatus. The gear set (64) operatively interconnects the plunger (66) and the drive member (62) such that after the plunger (66) is moved relative to the housing in a proximal direction to prepare the apparatus for injection, the plunger (66), when manually pushed back toward the housing, causes the drive member (62) to advance in a distal direction to force medication through an outlet, typically provided with an injection needle, at the distal end of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6520295
Abstract: A piston-type passenger conveying system includes at least three cabs to move between two floors. A control moves the cabs such that a cab is always waiting at each of said floors, and another cab is always moving to a floor. In this way, the system achieves the passenger flow benefits of an escalator with the inherent benefits of an elevator system.

  • Publication number: 20020112411
Abstract: A furniture system including a substantially planar partition panel, a furniture unit and a bracket assembly. The substantially planar partition panel extends in vertical and horizontal directions and has a framework. The framework has at least first and second attachment sites, with the first and second attachment sites being spaced apart. The bracket assembly includes a first member and a second member. The first member is detachably secured to the framework at the first attachment site and has a portion freely extending therefrom relative to the framework. The second member is detachably secured to the framework at the second attachment site and has a portion freely extending therefrom relative to the framework.

  • Patent number: 6354404
Abstract: A rotating passenger conveying system includes a central rotating column which drives a number of cabs to rotate about an axis. The cabs are also movable along the axis between a first and second floor. The central column rotates continuously, and the cabs are cyclically moved between the two floors. Passengers can enter a cab at one of the floors, and cab will then rotate to a movement zone. In the movement zone the cab will move to the other floor. The movement and flow of passengers in this system is continuous, and thus, the throughput of passengers in the rotating passenger conveying system is closer to an escalator system than to an elevator.
