  • Patent number: 12239816
Abstract: A drug delivery device may include a cassette with a needle assembly and a cartridge. The cassette is configured to couple and decouple from a reusable module. The device may also comprise an orientation mechanism to orient the cassette in relation to another device, such as a reusable housing. The device may comprise an extendable and retractable needle assembly. The cassette configuration is adapted to have a stopper with a short travel (no more than 14 mm) to deliver 1 mL of medication. The cassette may have a ratio of height to diameter from 2:1 to 1:1. The cassette may include a pair of drivable interfaces for being driven to actuate the stopper to expel medication and to drive the needle assembly between a retracted and extended configuration for controlled fluid communication between the needle and reservoir.

  • Publication number: 20240335616
Abstract: A medication delivery device is disclosed including a rack-and-pinion plunger drive system. The drive system includes an output drive having a pawled end movably coupled with the ratchet teeth of the plunger, and a pinion drive coupled between the housing, the output drive and an actuator. Actuator is longitudinally movable between dose set and delivery positions. Movement of the actuator causes rotation of the pinion drive along the rack to translate the output drive member with the pawled end that is engaged with the plunger ratchet teeth to distally advance the plunger. The device may include one or more of an end of dose mechanism to limit travel of the actuator, a load brake system to stop travel of the plunger under high input forces, a dose detection system, and a dose selector to vary the amount of dose set.

  • Patent number: 12083324
Abstract: A medical delivery device for advancing a piston in a medicament container to expel a medicament. A support structure supports the container and a drive assembly that advances the piston. The drive assembly includes a drive ribbon that can be retracted and extended. The retracted ribbon defines a spiral and the extended ribbon defines a helix. The drive ribbon is incrementally moveable between the retracted spiral configuration and extended helical configuration. A mechanical drive rotates the drive ribbon to selectively extend and retract the ribbon. A thrust member having a helical ramp engages a proximal edge of the drive ribbon where it transitions between a spiral and helix. A bearing member at the distal end of the drive ribbon exerts an axial force on the piston when the ribbon is extended.

  • Publication number: 20240245866
Abstract: A medication delivery device usable with a medication container wherein advancement of a piston within the container expels medication. The device includes a housing and a drive assembly. The drive assembly includes a drive ribbon having distal and proximal edge sections. The drive ribbon has a retracted configuration defining a spiral and an extended configuration defining a helix. The drive ribbon is movable from the retracted configuration to the extended configuration with such movement defining a drive axis and advancing the piston. In some embodiments, the drive ribbon may not rotate as it is advanced while in other embodiments, the ribbon does rotate. The disclosed drive assemblies include manually driven assemblies, spring driven assemblies and motor driven assemblies. The containers may be replaceable to allow for reuse of the device. In some embodiments, replaceable cartridges which includes both a medication container and a drive ribbon are employed.
