  • Patent number: 7643856
Abstract: A mobile communication device (100) uses a local wireless transceiver (108) to establish an asynchronous link (202) with a remote audio processor (110) which is typically operated in a low power mode and that maintains an association between the mobile communication device and remote audio processor. When the mobile communication device receives an incoming call page (210), the mobile communication device initiates a synchronous link with the remote audio processor, and responds to the incoming call page at a time when the call will be connected only after the synchronous link is established.

  • Publication number: 20080101274
Abstract: A method (10) and system (30 or 200) for delaying a push to connect channel establishment (38) in a mobile device (22) includes a first transceiver (32) having an optional streaming data channel (34) established, a second transceiver (33) for establishing the push to connect channel establishment, and a processor (39) operatively coupled to the first and second transceivers. The processor can be programmed to delay (14) the push to connect channel establishment upon initiation of a push-to-connect request signal (35), halt (16) the streaming data channel (36), and establish (19) the push to connect channel. The processor can further add (18) a synchronous connection (SCO) (37) before establishing the push to connect channel and after halting the streaming data channel. The streaming data channel can be an asynchronous stereo connection using A2DP and the synchronous connection can be a synchronous connection using a hands-free audio profile (HFP).

  • Patent number: 7359738
Abstract: A mobile communication device (100) contains a local wireless controller (114) for operating with a remote audio processor (124). The remote audio processor is used for listening to and speaking with remote parties via the mobile communication device, and operates in a mode having a relatively long latency in communicating with the mobile communication device. Upon receiving a dispatch call (306), a baseband processor (108) of the mobile communication device notifies an application processor (110) with a high priority dispatch notification (122). The high priority dispatch notification causes an active link to be established between the mobile communication device and remote audio processor sooner than if were to occur with ordinary call processing.
