  • Patent number: 8888076
Abstract: A separation column containing a feed distribution device and a feed distribution device for a separation column, such as a vacuum distillation column. The feed distribution device being capable of diffusing and directing a feed flow from a feed inlet so as to distribute the feed substantially evenly over the surface area of a separation plate in the column thereby increasing the columns efficiency. The separation column containing the feed distribution device being capable of shorter height, less costly design and lower operating cost than a separation column without the feed distribution device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 11, 2011
Date of Patent: November 18, 2014
    Assignee: Neste Oil Oyj
    Inventors: Esa Tamminen, Jari Sutinen

  • Patent number: 7465372
Abstract: Method for treatment of spent liquor at a pulp mill, in which method at least a part of the spent liquor flow arriving from the evaporation plant is taken to a pyrolysis reactor, wherein it is pyrolysed at a temperature of 300-800° C. in order to separate evaporable compounds from the coke remaining in a solid state. The pyrolysis products, which are gases or liquids, may be used as fuel or they may be processed further. The coke resulting from the pyrolysis is burnt in a soda recovery boiler or in a gasification reactor to regenerate cooking chemicals. The method is suitable for recovery of chemicals and energy both in sulphate and sulphite processes and also in cooking methods based on organic solvents.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20050284593
Abstract: Method for treatment of spent liquor at a pulp mill, in which method at least a part of the spent liquor flow (10) arriving from the evaporation plant is taken to a pyrolysis reactor (1), wherein it is pyrolysed at a temperature of 300-800° C. in order to separate evaporable compounds (12) from coke (11) remaining in a solid state. The pyrolysis products (11), which are gases or liquids, may be used as fuel or they may be processed further. The coke (11) resulting from the pyrolysis is burnt in a soda recovery boiler (3) or in a gasification reactor (2) to regenerate cooking chemicals. The method is suitable for recovery of chemicals and energy both in sulphate and sulphite processes and also in cooking methods based on organic solvents.
