  • Publication number: 20110069667
Abstract: An approach is provided to support resource allocation of broadcast or paging control channels. It is determined whether resource is allocated for a logical control channel. One or more fields of a physical downlink control channel is defined to signal the resource allocation for the logical control channel. The physical downlink control channel has a first format to support transmission of data over a downlink channel, and a second format that includes the one or more fields to support allocation of the logical control channel.

  • Publication number: 20100330920
Abstract: In accordance with the exemplary embodiments of the invention there is a method, an executable computer program, and apparatus for implementing a radio link failure counter that operates as a function of a discontinuous reception schedule of an active wireless communication connection, and based on a value of the radio link failure counter, determining a condition of the active wireless communication connection.

  • Publication number: 20100317344
Abstract: A method of managing a handover of a connection of a mobile device between a first access node and a second access node in a communications system, the method comprising: sending information from the communications system to the mobile device; selecting one of a plurality of access methods for accessing the second access node based on said information; and accessing the second access node using the selected access method.

  • Publication number: 20100298017
Abstract: An adjacent cell is determined to be a private cell, and then a measurement report of it that includes an identifier for the private cell is sent from a UE to the UE's serving network node. Methods, apparatus and computer readable media storing a program are detailed. In exemplary non-limiting embodiments: the identifier is at least a TA ID for the private cell's CSG network, where the UE receives the TA ID over a broadcast channel/system information of the serving network node; the TA ID may be a short TA ID received over a primary broadcast channel of the serving network node; the identifier comprises the TA ID and either a LI cell ID or a CSG cell ID; and if the UE is not a member of the CSG network it the measurement report only in response to a command received from the serving network node.

  • Publication number: 20100279715
Abstract: A network sends an indication of discontinuous reception period (ldle_Mode_DRX_Period) and an indication of number of paging groups (Paging_Group_Count). Paging occasions for a user equipment are determined by a predetermined formula. One exemplary formula is SFN mod IDLE_Mode_DRX_Period=(IDLE_Mode_DRX_Period div Paging_Group_Count)*(ID) mod (Paging_Group_Count); where SFN is system frame number and ID is the identifier of the user equipment, which can be IMSI or some value derived from IMSI. The UE's temporary ID is sent during a determined paging occasion, which maps to a paging channel on which the page is sent. Options for restricting the paging occasion to less than a frame, and for offsetting the paging occasions from that of the above formula are detailed.

  • Publication number: 20100183031
Abstract: Multiple embodiments are detailed to enable segmenting of system information SI that is sent on a shared channel, In one embodiment, information indicative of a segmentation state of at least one message that comprises system information is generated, and the information indicative of the segmentation state is transmitted to a user equipment, where the information indicative of the segmentation state is provided in one of a L1/L2 control channel, in a broadcast channel, or in a radio resource control message header. Other embodiments stipulate one bit signaling, container types to carry the segmented Sl, headers, segment lengths and other indicators. Certain embodiments specifically address how large block ETWS may be sent in E-UTRAN with low DL-SCH bandwidths.

  • Publication number: 20100110945
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing radio frequency transceiver user equipment in a packet based radio frequency signaling communication system are disclosed. User equipment is provided with closed subscriber group “CSG” capability including permanent storage for a CSG whitelist, the whitelist including identifiers of CSGs the user equipment is a member of. Base stations transmit signals including identifiers corresponding to CSGs the base station supports. The base station or cell selection process performed by the user equipment includes selecting cells that are part of the CSG whitelist. In additional embodiments, the user equipment includes user alterable storage for a user controlled CSG whitelist. The user alterable storage may further be partitioned into permanent and temporary portions. In an exemplary method, the user controls the cell selection process using the CSG whitelist information stored in the user equipment. Methods for managing the CSG whitelist are described.

  • Publication number: 20100022257
Abstract: In one exemplary embodiment of the invention, a method includes: receiving, by an apparatus, a first message having information descriptive of a parameter N in relation to a parameter T, where the apparatus is configured to participate in discontinuous reception of at least one paging message, where N is indicative of a number of paging groups per radio frame, where T is indicative of a number of radio frames over which the discontinuous reception is to occur; and receiving, by the apparatus, the at least one paging message in accordance with the information descriptive of N in relation to T.
