  • Patent number: 6823934
Abstract: A heat transfer plate for a plate heat exchanger has a heat transfer portion (210) having elevations and depressions (30; 130; 230), a first port portion (G), a second port portion (H), first sealing portions (214, 215a-d), and second sealing portions (244, 216, 217). The plate has a symmetry line (S), which extends from a first edge (202) to a second edge (203) of the plate and in relation to which the plate's heat transfer portion, sealing portions and ports to be passed by each of the heat transfer fluids are symmetrically arranged. The elevations and depressions (230), are located in such manner relative to the symmetry line (S) that when two identical plates are brought to abut against each other—one of the plates being rotated through 180 degrees about the symmetry line (S)—the elevations (230) on the plates will form distance means between the plates in a large number of positions distributed over the heat transfer portions (210) of the plates.

  • Patent number: 5924484
Abstract: A plate heat exchanger includes a package of heat transfer plates. The heat transfer plates are provided with inlet ports therethrough forming an inlet channel through the package. A sealing means is arranged between the heat transfer plates and forms, together with the heat transfer plates, a first flow passage for one fluid in every second plate interspace and a second flow passage for a heating fluid in each of the remaining plate interspaces. The inlet channel communicates with each first flow passage through at least one inlet passage while being blocked from communication with each second flow passage by part of the sealing means located in a first sealing area that extends around the inlet channel. Every two adjacent heat transfer plates which delimit the first flow passage have an essentially tight surface abutment against each other in a second sealing area. The inlet passage is delimited by at least one of the two adjacent heat transfer plates between its inlet port and the first sealing area.

  • Patent number: 5638899
Abstract: In a welded plate heat exchanger the edge portion of each heat transferring plate (2) is welded together with the edge portions of a first adjacent heat transferring plate (3) along an outer line (10B) and with the edge portion of a second adjacent heat transferring plate (1) along an inner line (11B). In order to ensure, in connection with welding together of the heat transferring plates from only one direction, that contact is maintained between the plates along said outer line (10B) each heat transferring plate is formed with a stiffening crease (18) outside said outer line. The stiffening crease (18) extends along the edge of plate outside said outer line (10B).

  • Patent number: 4987955
Abstract: The present invention refers to a plate heat exchanger comprising a package of heat exchange plates (2), each having a peripheral portion (17) and with this a heat exchanger portion (9) and several port portions with through-flow ports forming inlet and outlet channels through the package. Said heat exchange plates (2) are permanently joined to each other along their peripheral portions (17) and at a variety of places in their heat exchange portions (9) in such manner that they leave flow passages between adjacent heat exchange plates (2), and between an outer line (13) and an inner line (14) located closer to the inlet and outlet channel, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4966227
Abstract: In a plate heat exchanger for evaporation of a liquid conventional heat exchange plates (3) are used which have an elongated and substantially rectangular form and which have corner portions provided with ports. One corner portion of at least every second heat exchange plate has been removed, and outlet openings (16) from the plate interspaces, in which liquid is to be evaporated, has been created by omitting edge gaskets between the heat exchange plates forming these interspaces in the areas of the removed corner portions.

  • Patent number: 4911235
Abstract: A plate heat exchanger especially adapted for viscous fluids or fluids containing fibers has spacing means extending above the normal corrugations thus widening the normal interplate channels and the inlets and outlets to and from said channels are formed by juxtaposing the plates containing ports forming said inlets and outlets to give the maximum throughflow.

  • Patent number: 4699212
Abstract: In a plate heat exchanger having a frame plate and a pressure plate, at least one of these plates has holes for flow of the heat exchanging media to and from respective passages in the pack of heat exchange plates. Each of these holes has a lining of corrosion-resistant metal comprising a hollow cylinder with thin flanges at its opposite ends engaging opposite sides of the frame plate or pressure plate. One of these flanges has a seamless connection with the hollow cylinder and is sealingly compressed between a heat exchange plate and an undepressed surface of the inner side of the adjacent frame plate or pressure plate. Lining of the hole is effected by plastically deforming a metal disc into a hollow cylinder with a flange at one end, inserting the other end of the cylinder through the hole to engage the flange with said undepressed surface, and then providing said other end of the cylinder with a flange engaging an undepressed surface of the outer side of the frame or pressure plate.

  • Patent number: 4635715
Abstract: This invention relates to a gasket for a plate heat exchanger which gasket has several projections for securing the gasket to a heat exchanger plate. Said projections protrude towards an edge of the plate along which the gasket extends. According to the invention the gasket projections (2; 10, 11; 14; 20) cooperate with holding parts (2A, 3, 4; 12, 13; 15; 21), each comprising at least one projection (3, 4; 13; 16a, c) that is directed to the gasket (1) and is positioned at a distance from the gasket projection (2; 10, 11; 14; 20) seen in the longitudinal direction of the gasket.

  • Patent number: 4605060
Abstract: A plate (1) for a plate heat exchanger is provided with a corrugation pattern of ridges (4) and grooves (3) intended to rest against the corrugation pattern on an adjacent plate so that a great number of supporting points (2) are formed. On at least one of its sides, the plate has ridges provided with recessed parts (5) positioned in the areas of the supporting points (2). Thus, the number of turbulence-generating supporting points and consequently the flow resistance are reduced in an adjacent heat exchanging passage (7).
