  • Patent number: 8990822
Abstract: A data processing method and apparatus, wherein control-plane data of a communication system is processed in a multicore processing element and user-plane data of the communication system is processed in the same multicore processing element.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 18, 2008
Date of Patent: March 24, 2015
    Assignee: Nokia Corporation
Inventors: Hannu Vaitovirta, Henri Tervonen, Jarmo Hillo
  • Patent number: 8218535
Abstract: The invention is directed to a communication network wherein a direct tunnel may be formed between a user equipment and a gateway support node, bypassing an intermediate serving support node. If, however, the gateway node should be outside of the actual communication network to which the user equipment is connected, a two-tunnel concept is used wherein a tunnel is provided between the user equipment and the serving support node. Likewise, when receiving a request for Lawful Interception, the tunnel formed between the user equipment and the gateway node is reconfigured to be directed to the serving node for guiding all user traffic and control signaling via this serving node.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 10, 2012
    Assignee: Nokia Corporation

  • Publication number: 20050249194
Abstract: A system and method are directed to providing a Mobile Edge Service (MES) in a mobile network. An apparatus configured to enable a smart Gateway General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Support Node (GGSN) to communicate with an MES application layer such that a service provider may provide a content delivery service, a network service, and an application service to an subscriber. The apparatus is also directed to enabling an interaction between components in the smart GGSN by providing a protocol stack that includes control, data, and management interface.
