    Abstract: A method selects a network entity in a communication system. The method includes receiving, in a controller entity of an unlicensed radio spectrum access network, location information of a communication device connected to one of the unlicensed radio spectrum access network and another access network. The method further includes determining a routing area indication based on the location information. The method further includes selecting, based on the routing area indication, a serving network entity, which provides services for the communication device using at least the unlicensed radio spectrum access network and the another radio access network. Furthermore, a computer program, a controller entity and a communication system are configured to execute the method.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method that provides for informing a terminal of an availability of access to a packet network. To this end, at a packet network element or a service entity, a timer value is set to a predetermined time period. Then, according to an embodiment, the packet network element signals an availability of packet switched services to a respective one of a plurality of service entities and delays signaling to a respective another one of the plurality of service entities by the predetermined time period. According to another embodiment, the signaling to a plurality of service entities is performed simultaneously. Then, the service entity indicates an availability of packet switched services to a respective one of a plurality of terminals and delays indicating to a respective another one of the plurality of terminals by the predetermined time period.

    Abstract: The invention provides a method, system, and user equipment for requesting a call in a communication system. When sending a request for setting-up a packet switched call to a first network, a timer is started for waiting for a response to the request. When detecting a change from the first network to a second network, a request for setting-up a packet switched call is sent to the second network in response to the detection of the network change without waiting for expiry of the timer. The call can thus be setup with the second network with reduced time delay.

    Abstract: There is proposed a mechanism for controlling a communication connection of a user equipment in a communication network. The communication network comprises at least a core network subsystem having at least one core network control element, and a first access network subsystem and at least a second access network subsystem. On one hand, when it is detected that at least one connection parameter of a communication connection of the user equipment can not be maintained by the first access network subsystem, a connection modification message is sent to the core network control element. The core network control element responds with an acknowledgement message the acknowledgement message comprising an instruction parameter for instructing that the communication connection of the user equipment is to be changed to the second access network subsystem being determined to having the capability to provide the connection parameter.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a method of handing over communication of packet switched data from a mobile terminal moving between a first routing area defined in a cellular communications network and a second routing area, wherein a temporary logical link identifier has been assigned to said communication in the first routing area, the method comprising the steps of: identifying that the mobile terminal has moved from the first routing area to the second routing area; supplying a temporary handover identity; transmitting packets in a downlink direction to the mobile terminal during a handover period, each packet including the temporary handover identity; during said handover period assigning a new temporary logical link identifier to the mobile terminal and ceasing to include the temporary handover identity in subsequent packets when the new temporary logical link identifier has been assigned.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for performing an intersystem handover of a mobile terminal accessing a communication network via a radio access network of a first type. The communication network comprises at least this radio access network of this first type and a radio access network of a second type. In order to enable an access to the communication network with a radio access technology required or desired by the mobile terminal, the intersystem handover is initiated by a transmission of the mobile terminal to the communication network, which transmission comprises information indicating that an intersystem handover from the radio access network of the first type to the radio access network of said second type should be performed. The invention equally relates to a corresponding mobile terminal, to a corresponding communication network, to a corresponding communication system, to a network element of a communication network and to a web switch of a communication system.
