  • Patent number: 4905599
Abstract: A notch cylinder unit for selectively activating a plurality of impaling pins such as might be used for separating and removing a strip from a paper web. The notch cylinder unit comprises a cylinder having a longitudinally extending hole and a hollowing driving shaft extending therethrough, at least two rows of removable blades extending radially outwardly from and longitudinally of the cylinder, and adapted to cut a strip in the web, and a plurality of slidably mounted impaling pins generally equally spaced between the rows of blades and adapted to puncture, hook and remove the strip. • Patent number: 4601693
Abstract: Apparatus for crimping of a moving web is provided, the web having a plurality of holes formed therethrough along a line defined thereon in the direction of movement of the web, each of the holes being separated from a preceding hole by a substantial uniform distance. A holder for mounting a plurality of crimp blades is secured to a shaft for rotation thereby, and the blades are mounted to the holder body in predetermined fixed locations. An anvil is also provided, mounted to a second shaft for rotation thereby. The anvil body includes at least one annular groove defined around its outer surface for receiving the cutting edges of the blades, counter-rotation of the holder and anvil with the moving web therebetween causing insertion of each blade at least partially through the web and into the groove, and subsequent withdrawal of the blade, thereby crimping the web.

  • Patent number: 4481068
Abstract: A machine for collating multiple flexible webs includes a power driven conveyor on which the webs are assembled, a plurality of wheel members to guide the webs onto the conveyor, and glue nozzles mounted opposite certain of the wheel members to deposit glue onto a selected area of a web passing around the associated wheel member. A spot glueing attachment is provided for the wheel members in the form of an integral flexible member having a pair of curved side parts spaced apart to fit against opposite sides of the wheel member and having an outer diameter approximately equal to the diameter of the wheel. Cross bars connect the side parts and extend across the periphery of the wheel. Studs on the attachment fit into holes in the wheel, allowing mounting and removal of the attachment without use of tools.
