  • Patent number: 4775714
Abstract: A two-step process of immobilization of biologically efficient compounds is disclosed, in which the biologically efficient compounds are bonded from an aqueous solution by a hydrolytically stable linkage to a macroporous polymeric carrier containing reactive functional groups. In the first step, a hydrophobic adsorption occurs of the biologically efficient compounds on a macroporous matrix of the carrier, and an increase of their concentration on the solid surface. In the second step, the reaction takes place with the reactive functional groups of the carrier, and a covalent linkage is formed. The hydrophobic adsorption of compounds determined for immobilization is achieved by the addition of inorganic salts in a concentration from 0.5 to 3.0 mol/l. The invention can be utilized in the preparation of enzymatic catalysts for transformations of compounds and in the preparation of specific sorbents for both analytical and preparative affinity chromatography.

  • Patent number: 4613502
Abstract: The invention pertains to a cover of wounds in the form of a powder or a dry powdery fluid and is useful in covering and treating of ulcerous and necrotic wounds. It consists of animal or fungous chitin and chitosan in a powdered form of particle size 0.01 to 0.3 mm or of crosslinked dextran in the form of spheric particles of diameter 0.05 to 0.5 mm and of an immobilized protease. Enzymes are chemically bonded to the structure of the biopolymeric carrier and provide cleaning of the wound by dissolution of undesirable protein material, in particular fibrin, necrotic tissues, components of pus, and the like. In addition the adsorption and regeneration effects of powder act to provide suction of exudate and purulent matter infected with bacteria into interstitial capillary space. The cover according to the invention acts by fast cleaning of necrotic defects and speeds up the granulation and healing of the wound. The invention can be utilized in pharmaceutical production.

  • Patent number: 4171412
Abstract: The invention relates to specific sorbents based on hydrophylic polymeric gels, preferably of a macroporous character, which carry covalently bonded D-aminoacid or peptide which contain D-aminoacid units. The basic carrier prepared by copolymerization of hydroxyalkyl esters or hydroxyalkylamides of acrylic and methacrylic acid with crosslinking acrylate or methacrylate comonomers are modified by the reaction with diamines, aminoacids or dicarboxylic acids and the resulting carboxyterminal or aminoterminal groups are condensed with D-analogs of aminoacids or peptides. The peptide containing D-aminoacids can be also stepwise synthetized on the surface of the carrier. The specific sorbents are further used as insolubilized inhibitors in the affinity chromatography of proteolytic enzymes. They do not undergo an irreversible inactivation during repeated application and are suitable for technological purposes because of their mechanical and hydrolytical stability.

  • Patent number: 3997482
Abstract: There is disclosed a carrier for biologically active compounds comprising a hydrophilic polymeric macroporous gel including a copolymer of a hydroxy alkyl ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid and a member selected from the group consisting of a cross-linking acrylate or methacrylate derived from the corresponding acid and a bi- or trifunctional alcohol and bismethacrylamide, bisacrylamide and divinylbenzene, the hydroxy alkyl ester further containing the reaction product thereof with BrCN.

  • Patent number: 3964973
Abstract: Biologically active compounds such as enzymes are insolubilized by hydrophilizing a macroporous substantially hydrophobic carrier by hydrolysis of a thin surface layer of the carrier to form free carboxylic acid groups, and thereafter activating the carrier and reacting the activated carrier with a biologically active compound.
