  • Patent number: 11889472
Abstract: A wireless communication network pages a wireless communication device over Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) access points. To send the page, a WIFI gateway identifies WIFI networks that serve the wireless user device. The WIFI gateway determines individual ones of the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) access points to page the wireless user device based on the individual ones of the WIFI networks that serve the wireless user device. The WIFI gateway indicates the OFDM access points to a paging system. The paging system receives a page for the wireless user device and responsively transfers the page to a current one of the OFDM access points indicated by the WIFI gateway. The current one of the OFDM access points receives the page and wirelessly transfers the page to the wireless user device.

  • Patent number: 11147042
Abstract: A wireless communication system to deliver pages to wireless communication devices based on a Wireless Fidelity (WIFI) network identifier. Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) access points exchange wireless communications to serve a wireless communication device and transfer corresponding service messages to a paging control system. The paging control system processes the service messages to identify the current OFDM access point serving the wireless communication device. A WIFI gateway system receives a series of authorization requests for the wireless communication device to access a series of WIFI communication networks. The authorization requests indicate WIFI network identifiers. The WIFI gateway system transfers WIFI access authorizations to the WIFI communication networks. The wireless communication device is idle on the OFDM access points when on a WIFI communication network.

  • Patent number: 10321434
Abstract: The technology disclosed herein enhances the management of signaling resources of a wireless provider network using hidden public land mobile network (PLMN) signals. In one implementation, a Long Term Evolution (LTE) access node provides hidden and non-hidden PLMNs to wireless communication devices. During the communications for the wireless communication devices, the LTE access node identifies a transition condition for the network and a physical cell identifier (PCI) associated with a hidden PLMN. Once the PCI is identified, the PCI is provided to at least a subset of the wireless communication devices, permitting the subset to communicate using channels associated with the hidden PLMN.

  • Patent number: 9986487
Abstract: A donor base station in a wireless communication network exchanges first user data with a wireless relay using a standard communication throughput. A relay control system in the wireless communication network exchanges data with the wireless relay over the donor base station and the neighboring base station. The relay control system detects Inter-Cell Interference Coordination (ICIC) between the wireless relay and the neighboring base station and in response, the relay control system identifies the donor base station serving the wireless relay and signaling the donor base station of the ICIC between the wireless relay and the neighboring base station. The donor base station receives the signaling and reduces the standard communication throughput of the wireless relay. The donor base station then exchanges second user data with the wireless relay using the reduced communication throughput.

  • Patent number: 9876560
Abstract: Systems, methods, and software described herein provide enhancements for allocating Long Term Evolution (LTE) resources to a wireless relay node. In one implementation, a method of operating a LTE access node includes receiving device summary reports from a wireless relay node that indicate at least the quantity of wireless communication devices connected to the wireless relay node. Based on the received summaries, the LTE access node may determine scheduling weights for the wireless relay node, wherein the scheduling weights indicate a probability of scheduling resources in comparison to other wireless communication devices communicating using the same quality of service class identifier as the wireless relay node.

  • Patent number: 9877263
Abstract: A wireless communication network controls Carrier Aggregation (CA). A macrocell base station broadcasts a macro network Identifier (ID) and a relay network ID. A wireless relay broadcasts the macro network ID. The base station serves a first set of User Equipment (UEs) using CA responsive to the macro network ID. The wireless relay serves a second set of UEs using CA responsive to the macro network ID. The base station also serves the wireless relay using CA responsive to the relay network ID. The base station determines that a CA load threshold is exceeded and responsively terminates CA for the first set of UEs. The base station also transfers an instruction to terminate CA for the second set of UEs using the macro network ID. The wireless relay receives the instruction and responsively terminates CA for the second set of UEs.
