  • Publication number: 20240424909
Abstract: A system for selecting one of multiple paths in a linear drive system includes track segments having a first drive member and at least one mover having a second drive member for the linear drive system. A switch track segment includes a first path, a second path, and a third path along which the mover may travel. The switch track segment also includes a first sensor positioned along the first path to detect the mover present on the first path, a second sensor positioned along the second path to detect the mover present on the second path, and a third sensor positioned along the third path to detect the mover present on the third path. • Patent number: 12103402
Abstract: A system for selecting one of multiple paths in a linear drive system includes track segments having a first drive member and at least one mover having a second drive member for the linear drive system. Each mover includes a drive surface oriented toward the track segment when the at least one mover is driven along the track. Each mover also includes a first channel and a second channel extending along the drive surface. A switch track segment includes a first path and a second path along which the at least one mover may travel, at least one first pin positioned along the first path, and at least one second pin positioned along the second path. The first and second pins are extendable to engage the first and second channels of the at least one mover to direct the mover along either the first path or the second path, respectively.

  • Patent number: 11829158
Abstract: Synchronization of multiple vehicles in an independent cart system to reduce spacing and increase throughput designates one of the movers as a leader and at least one additional mover as a follower, defining a chain of vehicles. A motion command for the chain is provided to a controller for the leader, and the controller generates a motion profile. The controller passes this motion profile to a controller for each of the follower movers. If the follower is unable to maintain the motion profile for the leader, the controller for the follower generates a message to the controller for the leader indicating a modification to the motion profile is required. The controller for the leader modifies the motion profile and forwards the modified motion profile to controllers for each follower. If all movers are following the modified profile, the controller for the leader may return to the original motion profile.

  • Patent number: 10979375
Abstract: A messaging system communicates animated messages. The system generates personalized avatars of messaging participants. These avatars can be made to represent visible attributes of the participants in different art styles. For example, a tall, thin, bespectacled, brunette might be represented as a tall, thin, bespectacled, brunette avatar rendered in the style of a favorite cartoon. Messaging participants can then send messages in which the avatars of the sender and the recipient or recipients interact. For example, a message sender might convey a message “hug” that is displayed on a message recipient's device as an animation in which the sender's avatar embraces the recipient's avatar.

  • Publication number: 20180046454
Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes: receiving a declaration of a variable as a secret type for source code; designating a data record including the variable as secret; creating metadata for the data record, wherein the metadata for the data record labels the data record as secret; allocating a first memory buffer for the data record; updating metadata for the first memory buffer to label the first memory buffer as secret; and if, while executing the source code, the data record is copied from the first memory buffer to a second memory buffer whose metadata labels the second memory buffer as other than secret, updating metadata for the second memory buffer to label the second memory buffer as secret.

  • Patent number: 9841972
Abstract: Source code verification, including receiving a declaration of a variable as a secret type, determining if any source code is configured to use the variable as a type other than secret, and if it is determined that there is source code that will use the variable as a type other than secret, creating an exception in the source code verification process.

  • Patent number: 9055530
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for saving power in wireless communications devices are described herein. In some aspects, an apparatus includes a memory unit configured to store wake-up information associated with a wake-up time duration for receiving a beacon signal, and includes a processor operationally coupled to the memory unit. The wake-up time duration identifies a time for the processor to wake-up before an expected arrival time of the next beacon signal. The processor may be configured to retrieve the wake-up information from the memory, and vary, over a period of time, the wake-up time duration based on the wake-up information.

  • Patent number: 8863669
Abstract: Control of Linear Synchronous Motors involves a number of low level issues of motor control—such as sensing precise position, controlling current in stator windings, and obeying commands from high level controllers—and high level vehicle control—such as stopping and starting, switching and merging, limiting speed and acceleration, synchronizing relative motion, preventing collisions and accidents, and dealing with failures. In most cases there is a master controller that directs vehicles based on simple commands but in other cases it is desirable to allow an external agent to provide more detailed control—such as synchronizing motion between a vehicle and a robot or allowing human operator control. This patent describes a versatile control scheme that allows both simplified high level control and, when or where necessary, control by an external agent. The result is a transport system and method that provides efficient and precise movement of vehicles on a guideway.

  • Patent number: 6069801
Abstract: A power converter, for accepting power from a source and delivering power to a load, comprises conversion circuitry including a first side coupled to the source and a second side isolated from the first side and coupled to the load, energy storage circuitry, connected to the first side of the conversion circuitry, for storing energy at a voltage higher than the voltage of the source, and a switch arranged with respect to the conversion circuitry and energy storage circuitry to allow energy to be delivered from the source to the energy storage circuitry and a quantum of energy to be delivered to the second side of the conversion circuitry during a time that the switch is closed. Energy can be delivered to the energy storage circuitry and the quantum of energy delivered to the second side of the conversion circuitry during less than the entire time that the switch is closed.
