  • Publication number: 20180292105
Abstract: An HVACR fan and heater assembly accounts for the cyclonic flow produced by centrifugal blowers by placing a heater vertically and biased towards a side of a fan cabinet in order to increase and balance airflow through the heater, eliminating hot spots and fire risk and improving heater efficiency. A blockoff in the fan cabinet forces airflow within the cabinet to move through the heater. The positioning of the heater may vary depending on the direction of rotation of the centrifugal blower. The fan and heater assembly may further include baffles to direct the airflow from the centrifugal blower.

  • Publication number: 20180295044
Abstract: A system, apparatus, and methods are provided for automatically managing a collection of service instances. A selected or random instance of the service isredline-tested to determine a maximum level of sustained and stable performance (e.g., a maximum or approximate maximum load or throughput of the service instance). This redline value may represent a highest service request rate (e.g., in queries per second or qps) that should be delivered to some or all instances of the service. An expected range of demand for the service is then estimated for a future time period, possibly from analysis and/or observations of past demand, and a maximum and minimum number of instances for handling that range of demand, at an acceptable level of performance, can be determined. During the time period, additional instances may be created and superfluous instances may be removed automatically, based on actual demand.

  • Publication number: 20180292362
Abstract: Methods for transferring a carbon dioxide based separation procedure from a reference chromatographic system to a target chromatographic system involve alternative techniques for determining system pressure drops not attributable to the column. One technique involves leveraging experimental chromatography to develop a correction factor that is a function of at least one correction coefficient and at least one ratio of the differential analyte retention time to the retention time in the reference system. Another technique involves leveraging other experimental measurements of tubing pressure drops under various condition to develop a lookup table that can be used to identify likely tubing pressure drops in the target system. A third technique leverages knowledge of the separation procedure and the target system and the likely nature of the relevant flow to calculate tubing pressure drops in the target system.
