  • Patent number: 9465907
Abstract: One illustrative method disclosed herein involves, among other things, decomposing an initial circuit layout into first and second mask patterns, for the first mask pattern, identifying a first four-polygon pattern in the first mask pattern that violates a multi-polygon constraint rule, wherein the first four-polygon pattern comprises four polygons positioned side-by-side in the first mask pattern, and recoloring one or two of the polygons in the first four-polygon pattern in the first mask pattern to the second mask pattern to eliminate the first four-polygon pattern from the first mask pattern without introducing any design rule violations in the initial circuit layout.

  • Patent number: 9467223
Abstract: A system for measuring an RF input signal frequency includes a sampling optical pulse train with a frequency-dithered repetition-rate, and a sub-sampled analog link coupled to the optical pulse train whereby the RF input signal frequency is determined. This frequency dither imparts well-characterized modulation sidebands onto the input RF signal to be measured. By measuring the amplitude of these sidebands relative to the incoming aliased signal amplitude the frequency of the original signal is readily determined. The use of optical sampling dramatically increases the bandwidth over which the disambiguation technique is applied, and coarse disambiguation is achieved in a single acquisition.

  • Patent number: 9466091
Abstract: In an aspect, an update unit can evaluate condition(s) in an update request and update one or more memory locations based on the condition evaluation. The update unit can operate atomically to determine whether to effect the update and to make the update. Updates can include one or more of incrementing and swapping values. An update request may specify one of a pre-determined set of update types. Some update types may be conditional and others unconditional. The update unit can be coupled to receive update requests from a plurality of computation units. The computation units may not have privileges to directly generate write requests to be effected on at least some of the locations in memory. The computation units can be fixed function circuitry operating on inputs received from programmable computation elements. The update unit may include a buffer to hold received update requests.

  • Publication number: 20160290805
Abstract: Various embodiments each include at least one of systems, methods, devices, and software for GNSS simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). The disclosed techniques demonstrate that simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) can be performed using only GNSS SNR and geo-location data, collectively termed GNSS data henceforth. A principled Bayesian approach for doing so is disclosed. A 3-D environment map is decomposed into a grid of binary-state cells (occupancy grid) and the receiver locations are approximated by sets of particles. Using a large number of sparsely sampled GNSS SNR measurements and receiver/satellite coordinates (all available from off-the-shelf GNSS receivers), likelihoods of blockage are associated with every receiver-to-satellite beam. Loopy Belief Propagation is used to estimate the probabilities of each cell being occupied or empty, along with the probability of the particles for each receiver location.

  • Publication number: 20160293391
Abstract: A method of mass spectrometry is disclosed comprising separating precursor ions using an ion mobility separator such that different precursor ions have different drift times through the on mobility separator; mass filtering said separated precursor ions with a mass filter, wherein the mass to charge ratios of the precursor ions transmitted by the mass filter vary as a function of the drift times of the precursor ions through the ion mobility separator; performing a first mode of operation comprising fragmenting the separated and mass filtered precursor ions in a fragmentation device to form fragment ions; urging the fragment ions through the fragmentation device such that fragment ions derived from different precursor ions that have been separated by the ion mobility separator are maintained spatially separated from each other as they are urged through the fragmentation device; and detecting the fragment ions. The method enables precursor ions to be associated with their related fragment ions more accurately.

  • Publication number: 20160287250
Abstract: A surgical instrument can comprise a rotary input shaft and a surgical end effector that comprises a first jaw and a second jaw that is movable relative to the first jaw. The surgical instrument can further comprise a firing shaft that operably interfaces with the rotary input shaft. A firing member is movably supported in one of the first and second jaws. A closure member is in threaded engagement with the rotary input shaft such that rotation of the rotary input shaft in a first direction causes the closure member to move the second jaw to the closed position. The closure member remains in threaded engagement with the rotary input shaft to positively retain the second jaw in the closed position while continued rotation of the rotary input shaft in the first direction drives the firing member from a start position to an end position.

  • Publication number: 20160289995
Abstract: A hunting blind with an adjustable opening is provided to increase the flexibility of the hunting blind when the hunting blind is used in various activities. One or more covers at least partially cover the adjustable opening to produce a modified opening. Some embodiments of the invention may comprise fasteners, cords, and other components to arrange the one or more covers in different configurations. Various embodiments of the invention may also have a pass-through feature in an exterior wall of the hunting blind that provide access to the external environment. This may be advantageous for objects such as tripods where one of the tripod's legs may extend through the pass-through feature so that the tripod may be positioned closer to the exterior wall, which saves space in the hunting blind.
