  • Patent number: 9253138
Abstract: A social media mechanism processes messages for content that may require filtering of recipients of the message, and informs a user who drafted the message when the message might need to be filtered so it is not sent to all potential recipients of the message. The user may then select to send the message to all potential recipients, or to filter the recipients so the message is sent to less than all of the potential recipients. User profiles are created and maintained, and may include information that helps to determine when filtering of messages is desirable. Feedback buttons are also provided to provide feedback when a user does not like a message.

  • Patent number: 9253513
Abstract: Improved operation of a content presentation device is achieved by one application, presenting content to users, automatically identifying an independent second application, available on the content presentation device, based on remotely-sourced information, and invoking that second application based on explicit or implicit user input. Bidirectional notifications are enabled between the two applications whereby activity within one application can affect the other. The first application displays an advertisement and can also, based on metadata received with the advertisement, identify the second application and invoke it, based upon explicit or implicit user action, such that both are simultaneously visible in separate content display areas on a physical display device. User interaction with the second application is independent of the display of the corresponding advertisement by the first application.

  • Patent number: 9253282
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for communication are provided in which a communications device is operable to provide an improved user experience or to improve the performance and/or operation of the device through use of an enriched user profile. In one aspect, the communications device may obtain an attribute including a user specific informational element from a component operable on the communications device. The communications device may generate a profile synopsis from the attribute by abstracting at least a portion of the user specific informational element from the attribute, and transmit the profile synopsis. The communications device may receive an enhanced informational element derived from an aggregation of profile synopses from a plurality of devices and may generate an enriched user profile by augmenting the attribute with at least a portion of the received enhanced informational element.

  • Publication number: 20160027134
Abstract: A remote conference management system supporting some combination of text, audio, and video conferencing is disclosed. Using the disclosed technology, a conference can be organized such that during different sessions of the conference, some participants may be active and others inactive. The disclosed technology can be used in the context of a dispute resolution tribunal, such as in court, alternative dispute resolution hearing, or before an administrative body. In some embodiment which could be used in such a context, a primary conference can be used to conduct business on an active matter (e.g., a case currently being heard by a judge), while one or more subconferences could be used for private conversations between participants (e.g., settlement negotiations). In implementing the disclosed technology, a software queue and abstraction layers can provide reliable asynchronous communication with third party audio and video conference providers.

  • Publication number: 20160027706
Abstract: Various embodiments comprise apparatuses and methods for testing and repairing through-substrate vias in a stack of interconnected dice. In various embodiments, an apparatus is provided that includes a number of through-substrate vias to couple to one or more devices, at least one redundant through-substrate via to allow a repair of the apparatus, and a pair of pull-up devices coupled to the through-substrate vias and the redundant through-substrate via to provide a high-data value to the first end of the respective through-substrate vias. A test register is coupled the second end of each of the through-substrate vias and the redundant through-substrate via to store a received version of the high-data value. A comparator compares the high-data value with the received version of the high-data value to test the through-substrate vias for short-circuit connections.

  • Publication number: 20160025862
Abstract: A method and system for assisting mobile stations to locate a satellite use an efficient messaging format. A server computes a correction between coarse orbit data of a satellite and precise orbit data of the satellite. A coordinate system is chosen such that variation of the correction is substantially smooth over time. The server further approximates the correction with mathematical functions to reduce the number of bits necessary for transmission to a mobile station. The mobile station, upon receiving the coefficients, evaluates the mathematical functions using the coefficients and a time of applicability (e.g., the current time), converts the evaluated result to a standard coordinate system, and applies the conversion result to the coarse orbit data to obtain the precise orbit data.

  • Publication number: 20160025042
Abstract: A reciprocating piston cryogenic pump has been suspended from stroking when process fluid discharge temperature from a vaporizer dropped below a threshold to prevent freezing of a heat exchange fluid circulating through the vaporizer and damage to downstream components. Suspension of the pump results in a decrease of process fluid pressure downstream of the vaporizer, which is undesirable. In the present technique, a temperature is monitored correlating to process fluid temperature downstream of the vaporizer. The amount of process fluid discharged from the pump in each cycle is adjusted as a function of the temperature such that the average residence time of the process fluid in the vaporizer is increased as the discharge amount decreases, increasing process fluid discharge temperature. The average mass flow rate of the process fluid through the vaporizer is unchanged regardless of pump discharge amount such that process fluid pressure downstream of the vaporizer is maintained.

  • Publication number: 20160022488
Abstract: Novel techniques and instrumentation are disclosed for repositioning an intraocular lens (IOL) that becomes dislocated, such as following cataract surgery. In some methods, a trocar or sheath is placed through the eye wall near the ciliary body until a distal tip of the instrument is near the intraocular target to be moved. A clip or other engagement structure at the end of the instrument is manipulated to engage a portion of the IOL, such as a haptic, using various disclosed engagement mechanisms. The instrument is then manipulated to reposition the target to a desired position. In some cases, sutures are attached to the target or to the clip and then secured on the external surface of the eye to secure the target in the desired position.
