  • Publication number: 20110015702
Abstract: An embodiment uses an accelerometer to sense heart sounds, and determines heart rate info nation using the sensed heart sounds. An embodiment uses an accelerometer to sense respiratory activity. An embodiment delivers a programmed neural stimulation therapy with a programmed duty cycle, where the programmed duty cycle includes a stimulation ON portion followed by a stimulation OFF portion. An electrode electrically connected to the implanted neural stimulation device is used to remotely detect cardiac activity. The remotely detected cardiac activity is used to detect heart rate information during the stimulation ON portion and to detect heart rate information during the stimulation OFF portion. The detected heart rate information and/or the detected respiration information are used to control a neural stimulation therapy performed by the neural stimulator device and/or are used to provide diagnostic information for the patient's condition.

  • Publication number: 20110015546
Abstract: The invention is directed to an apparatus and method for blood sample acquisition and testing. The apparatus incorporates a test strip having a blood sample volume detection area in which a blood sample is accumulated and a minimum blood sample volume is detected. Once a minimum blood sample volume is detected, the test strip is moved with respect to the blood sample extraction site so that a bending surface of the test strip is presented to the blood sample, utilizing the surface tension of the blood sample droplet to facilitate movement of the blood sample to a measurement site on the strip where blood glucose in the sample is measured.

  • Publication number: 20110013887
Abstract: Command packets for a personal video recorder that provides for a transport stream (TS) that contains data and also includes a transport packet (TP)/TS formatted command packets. The TP/TS formatted command packet may be communicated between any number of devices, including multiple chips, multiple boards, and multiple processors. A decoder is able to decode the TP/TS formatted command packet and to perform the appropriate operation on data portions of the TS. When a TS is provided to a device not having the capability to perform the proper decoding of the TP/TS formatted command packet, that particular packet may be deemed as being unidentified (or unknown) adaptation field data. Alternatively, the packet may be identified as being corrupted data and/or irrelevant data.

  • Publication number: 20110016205
Abstract: A website test environment invokes multiple instances of a commercial browser, and captures invocations of browser operations for gathering performance data without interference from other instances or multiple occurrences of the operating system (OS). Commercial browsers often employ constraints that assume only a single instantiation is executing on a particular machine. Configurations allow each instance to present as a separate user, thus avoiding conflicts that may arise from temporary files and network connections, for example. Each browser instance operates as a performance agent and dynamically links with a set of entry points for accessing performance related browser operations. As each agent invokes native (OS specific) machine functions for network access via particular entry points, configurations disclosed herein redirect the entry points to a collection layer of instructions (code) for capturing performance data in addition to invoking the native OS function called for by the browser operation.

  • Publication number: 20110011606
Abstract: An impact rotary tool is provided that is switchable between an impact mode where the tool delivers an impacting torque on an output tool and a drill mode where the driver delivers a smooth output on an output tool. The impact rotary tool includes an impact mechanism and a hammer block that in the impact mode is movable parallel to the axis of the driver shaft and delivers reciprocating blows to rotate an anvil and in the drill mode substantially constantly engages the anvil. The impact mechanism includes a stopper that does not contact the hammer block in the impact mode and engages the hammer block in the drill mode to maintain the substantially constant contact between the hammer block and the anvil.

  • Publication number: 20110014673
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to systems and methods for processing a biological sample that result in a physical change, such as reacting two molecules together to form a reaction product or for use in lysing viruses or biological cells for analysis using biological assay systems. As such, the present invention relates both to breaking apart biological species such as viruses and cells, as well as the formation of reactants from one or more reactive species. The sample has a volume in the range from about 1 microliter to 10 milliliters. The sample is processed by applying pressure, and either sonic energy or thermal energy to the sample, wherein the pressure achieved is usually at least 24 atmospheres, and the temperature of the sample is usually raised to at least 50° C.
