  • Patent number: 8688161
Abstract: A system and method for creating an ad hoc communications group in a push-to-talk (PTT) system. A user may create an ad hoc group for a PTT communications by selecting members from different sources in a wireless communications device. The user may select members from a caller identification list, a recent call list, or a contact list. The ad hoc communications group thus composed is sent to a server and the server will then set up a PTT communications among the members of this ad hoc group.

  • Patent number: 8655370
Abstract: A system and method for sharing geographical location information among a set of wireless telecommunication devices, such as mobile telephones. A first wireless telecommunication device generates geographical location information of that wireless telecommunication device, either through a resident device such as a GPS device, or has another computer device on the network provide the geographic location information, and then shares the geographical location information through sending the location information to one or more servers for relay to a predesignated target set of wireless telecommunication devices. The server stores the identity of member devices of the target set and controls communication between the first wireless telecommunications device and the member devices of the target set. A second server can be used to modify the geographical information, such as providing a map showing the location of the first wireless telecommunication device and other member devices of the target set.

  • Publication number: 20140044307
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices use a mobile device's sensor inputs to automatically draft natural language messages, such as text messages or email messages. In the various embodiments, sensor inputs may be obtained and analyzed to identify subject matter which a processor of the mobile device may reflect in words included in a communication generated for the user. In an embodiment, subject matter associated with a sensor data stream may be associated with a word, and the word may be used to assemble a natural language narrative communication for the user, such as a written message.

  • Patent number: 8600291
Abstract: An opportunity can arise while a user is engaging a first multimedia service, commonly when the service is engaged upon a personal electronic device. A trigger can have the first multimedia service changed to an alternative service based upon the opportunity. Upon completion of the opportunity, there can be an automatic return to the first service or a request to the user on how to leave the opportunity. In addition, a notice can transfer to the user that the opportunity is coming to an end and a request can be made for the user to determine how to proceed from the opportunity or that the opportunity is ending.

  • Patent number: 8340011
Abstract: A method for increasing data transmission efficiency in a broadcast network having at least one unicast transmission link and at least one multicast transmission link to a mobile device, the method comprising: identifying a viewing trend based upon monitored viewing activity of first content data by a first plurality of users over the unicast transmission link; determining, based upon the identified trend, that a viewing audience will exceed a target threshold for second content data; and in response to the determination, broadcasting the second content data to a second plurality of users over the multicast transmission link to increase data transmission efficiency in the broadcast network. This method may also be used to promote the dissemination of useful or popular information such as service awareness as part of marketing activities.
