  • Publication number: 20230067623
Abstract: A method of making an M-N—C catalyst is disclosed. The method includes the steps of (a) contacting an N-doped carbon support with a basic solution that includes a metal salt, whereby the N-doped carbon support is metalated by the metal cation of the metal salt to form one or more chelated metal-nitrogen complexes (MNx species); and (b) subsequently contacting the metalated N-doped carbon support with an acid, whereby the one or more MNx species formed on the N-doped carbon support in step (a) remain intact while other species are removed. The resulting composition may be catalytically activated by heat treating the composition. The activated catalyst may be used to catalyze a wide range of chemical reactions.

  • Publication number: 20210043334
Abstract: An argon fluoride (ArF) laser system for inertial nuclear fusion energy production with lower required laser energy than other laser drivers. An Argon fluoride laser system uniformly illuminates a spherical capsule comprising an outer ablator wall surrounding an inner shell comprising the fusion fuel. The laser beams are adjusted spectrally to achieve a bandwidth of up to 12 THz and a coherence time as low as 80 femtoseconds that in combination with the short wavelength (193 nm) suppress laser plasma instabilities. Uniform spherical acceleration causes the inner shell of the target capsule to form a spherical assembly of compressed fuel surrounding a “hot spot” that has sufficient temperature, density and size to ignite and initiate a thermonuclear burn.

  • Publication number: 20180225684
Abstract: A system for strategic operation of a variable generation power plant includes a computing device in communication with a data store including environmental data independent system operator rules, operator risk metrics, power storage systems, a maintenance schedule, and a capacity record. The computing device including a statistical modeling unit to generate a risk-to-revenue strategic bid estimate for successive time periods based on one or more factors accessible in the data store, a display device to display a graphical representation of the risk-to-revenue strategic bid estimate; and a control processor that analyzes the risk-to-revenue strategic bid estimate to schedule the daily operation of a power storage system and to identify one or more time periods of the successive time periods in which to perform a scheduled maintenance. A method and a non-transitory computer readable medium are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20070144383
Abstract: A composite printing plate having a body including a first surface and a generally opposed printing surface, the body made of a polymeric matrix and a plurality of beads dispersed in the polymeric matrix. The plate further including a design in the printing surface defined by a base and an upper margin generally coplanar with the printing surface, wherein some of the beads extend from the base towards the upper margin, such that the at least some of the beads are at least partially exposed in the design.

  • Publication number: 20070118993
Abstract: An incontinence bed pad comprised of one or more inflatable pads and one or more absorbent pads for use under a patient on a bed. The inflatable incontinence bed pad serves to spread pressure over an increased area for the patient to prevent or treat bed wounds. The inflatable pad may channel or drain fluids such as urine into the absorbent pad below, keeping the surface and patient dry. Alternately, the absorbent pad may be placed above the inflatable pad to reduce cleaning work. The one or more air bladders are inflatable through one or more ports. The ports pass air from one or more manual or powered air pumps to the one or more air bladders. Making an incontinence pad of an inflatable nature offers advantages not available in the prior art. The inflation and deflation of distinct sealed chambers or zones within the inflatable pad may tilt a patient's hips to the right and to the left periodically. The pad may inflate in a static position.

  • Publication number: 20060282003
Abstract: A breath biofeedback method and system for encouraging a subject to modify respiration. The system includes a thoracic volume input module measuring thoracic volume data of the subject and a pattern module providing target breathing patterns in communication with a display generator. The display generator producing display information representing a displayable image including a first object having a first position determined as a function of the thoracic volume data and a second object having a second position determined as a function of the target breathing pattern and the thoracic volume data. The displayable image is designed such that when displayed on the display device the displayable image encourages the subject viewing the displayable image to modify respiration.

  • Publication number: 20060030770
Abstract: A system and method for measuring a pulmonary performance value of a subject. In one embodiment, a system includes one or more imaging devices, each configured to capture one or more images of a subject inside an interior chamber, such as a plethysmograph chamber. An exemplary system also includes an imaging processor in communication with the one or more imaging devices for estimating a change in volume of the subject from information about the one or more images.
