  • Patent number: 11977277
Abstract: A lens is provided that has an improved optical configuration in order to provide enhanced off-axis optical performance by tending to reduce, eliminate, or minimize first order optical distortion. Embodiments may be used in non-corrective or corrective unitary or dual lens eyewear, for example in combination with a frame to support the lens in a path of a straight ahead line of sight forming a center axis of an eye of a typical wearer. The lens may comprise a lens body. The lens body may comprise a surface having a spheric, toric, cylindrical or freeform geometry and another surface having a freeform geometry. A lens thickness is defined between the surfaces. A prismatic power of the lens is improved, particularly for off-axis viewing angles.

  • Patent number: 11086148
Abstract: Features are disclosed relating to an article such as eyewear customized to individual wearer parameters (e.g., measurements, preferences, etc.), and to systems and methods for customizing eyewear to individual wearer parameters. The system includes an input for receiving data representative of a three dimensional configuration of a portion of a wearer's face and an input for receiving data representative of a desired position where the wearer would like an eyewear frame to reside on the wearer's face. One system also includes a processor for determining a change in configuration of an eyewear component blank to allow the eyewear frame to reside in the desired position, and an eyewear component modifier for modifying the eyewear component blank so that the frame will reside in the desired position.

  • Patent number: 9864211
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems and methods for removably coupling an electronic device to eyewear. In one aspect, an eyeglass is provided. The eyeglass includes an eyeglass frame adapted to be carried by a head of a wearer, at least a first lens, and at least a first lens support portion of the eyeglass frame configured to position the at least first lens in a path of a field of view of a wearer. The eyeglass further includes an attachment device that comprises a first connector and a second connector, where the first connector removably couples the attachment device to the eyeglass frame, and an electronic device, where the second connector removably couples the electronic device to the attachment device.

  • Patent number: 8746877
Abstract: Eyewear is provided that can comprise a frame, a lens, and at least one retention component that can secure the lens relative to the frame. The frame can be configured to support at least one lens in a field of view of a wearer. The retention component can be supported by the frame and/or the lens and can be movable or fixed relative to the frame and/or the lens. In some embodiments, the retention component can slidably engage an engagement portion of the frame and/or the lens for preventing the lens from separating from the frame in response to a ballistic event. In some embodiments, the eyewear can comprise a faceplate and a pair of straps that attach to the frame of the eyewear in a manner that evenly distributes compressive stresses across the surface of the faceplate.
